The misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge against Texas A&M redshirt freshman wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones has been dropped.
College Station city attorneys dismissed the charge, which occurred last April, for lack of evidence. Seals-Jones has lived up to the promise placed on him thus far this season, catching eight passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns in two games. He redshirted last year after undergoing knee surgery. Texas A&M redshirt freshman WR Ricky Seals-Jones could lead the Aggies in receiving over holdover Malcome Kennedy and heralded recruit Speedy Noil, according to NFL.com.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Seals-Jones was a hotshot freshman wide receiver with a world of hype last summer, but he injured his knee in September, was slapped with a medical redshirt, and then was arrested in May on a charge of disorderly conduct. Those factors conspired to steal from RSJ the Mike Evans comparisons, but he hasn't lost any of his ability. Though Seals-Jones won't have Johnny Manziel throwing to him, he's a high-upside fantasy sleeper who will be an asset in SEC-only leagues.

Texas A&M freshman receiver Ricky Seals-Jones will undergo knee surgery on Friday.

Seals-Jones is headed toward a medical hardship redshirt, which would mean his 2013 season is over and he would have four years of eligibility remaining beginning next year. Seals-Jones, who caught a 71-yard touchdown pass in the season opener against Rice, hasn't played much since due to his nagging knee injury. Medical hardship waivers are available to players who participate in less than 30 percent of that season's games.

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin is considering tagging freshman WR Ricky Seals-Jones with a medical redshirt this season.

Seals-Jones has been slowed by a knee injury after playing in the season opener against Rice. The massive target caught a 71-yard touchdown pass against the Owls and played sparingly against Alabama after sitting out against Sam Houston State. "That’s an ongoing conversation at this point," Sumlin said. "We’re doing everything that’s right for him because he is a special talent. For him to lose a year if something is not correct and he’s not comfortable... we’re not going to do that." Players can earn a medical hardship waiver if they played in less than 30 percent of that season's games.
