Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt (fractured fibula) has been ruled out for the rest of the season by SU head coach Scott Shafer.
Hunt suffered the left leg injury on Oct. 3 against Louisville. "Terrel's down," Shafer said. "He's getting better, it's just that bones heal differently in each kid. He won't be available for the rest of the season, but he's doing a nice job with school, he's adjusted to the situation well and he's helping us with the young guys. He's been very attentive to meetings, but he won't be available." The Orange have used true freshman AJ Long as Hunt's replacement. Nov 21 - 5:47 PM

Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt will miss 4-6 weeks due to a fractured fibula.

Hunt suffered the left leg injury in the fourth quarter against Louisville. Redshirt freshman Austin Wilson played in place of Hunt and looks to be the starter moving forward. The Orange face FSU next.

Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt went 17-for-32 for 196 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in a 28-6 loss to Louisville on Friday.

Last week, when Hunt struggled against Notre Dame, he was playing through a sore hip. We wonder if he isn't 100-percent healthy. The supremely athletic Hunt has only 34 rushing yards the last two weeks, looking tentative inside and outside the pocket. He had a raw QBR of over 65 in each of Syracuse's wins, but hasn't cracked even a 43 during the school's three-game losing streak. TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline compares Hunt to "sort of a poor man’s Donovan McNabb" and gave the Orange signal-caller a preseason Round 4 grade.

Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt went 22-for-38 for 294 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in a 31-15 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday.

Hunt was playing through a sore hip, one reason he only rushed for 26 yards (and a touchdown) after running for 92 and 156 yards, respectively, over the last two games. The lack of that dimension of his game was a little startling. We love Hunt's frame (6-foot-3, 234 pounds) and running ability, but want to see improved passing mechanics before we get too excited about his projection. Of course, he has another season of eligibility remaining to develop his tools. Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt threw for 219 yards and ran for 156 yards in a 34-20 loss to Maryland on Saturday.

He also threw an interception and ran for two scores. Hunt has a great frame (6-foot-3, 234 pounds) and is an exciting runner, but he's not yet consistent enough to comfortably project as an NFL quarterback. Luckily, though, he has another season of eligibility remaining to develop his obvious physical tools. Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt ran for a career-high three touchdowns in Saturday's 40-3 win over Central Michigan.

Hunt finished 20-for-30 for 175 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions through the air, and added 92 yards and the aforementioned three scores on 13 carries on the ground. Hunt's status for this game was in doubt after he was ejected for punching Villanova LB Dillon Lucas in the second quarter of the Orange's 27-26 double-overtime victory in the opener, but the ACC decided not to punish him further. The Orange's offense is heavily dependent on Hunt.

The ACC has decided not to suspend Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt for punching a Villanova player last week.

Hunt was ejected for socking Villanova LB Dillon Lucas in the second quarter of the Orange's 27-26 double-overtime victory Friday. "When a player is disqualified from the game due to a flagrant personal foul, that team's conference shall automatically initiate a video review for possible additional sanctions before the next scheduled game," Section 6.1 of the NCAA rule book states. An ACC spokesperson said the conference reviewed the play and didn't believe further punishment was warranted. Hunt completed 10-of-17 passes for 94 yards before he got booted from the contest. "It's an emotional game and if you've never played it, you don't know what it's like to get frickin' pummeled," head coach Scott Shafer said. "There are people on your back and people talking to you and you react. We've all done it." Syracuse plays at Central Michigan on Sept. 13.

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline compares Syracuse redshirt junior QB Terrel Hunt to "sort of a poor man’s Donovan McNabb."

Pauline grades Hunt as a preseason Round 4 prospect. "Hunt is a prospect on the rise and a player I really like," the expert wrote. "He’s sort of a poor man’s Donovan McNabb; an athletic passer that also makes plays carrying the ball. What I like about Hunt is the patience he displays in the pocket. Even if there’s an opportunity to take off up the field, Hunt will stay behind the line of scrimmage or move around the pocket in search of an open wide out. I like his upside and feel he has a definite future in the NFL." Hunt told the media earlier this summer that he expects Syracuse to win 10 games in 2014. We think he must work on staying patient downfield more often, as opposed to settling for shorter connections.

Syracuse head coach Scott Schafer named sophomore Terrel Hunt the team's starting QB against Tulane.

Hunt will take over for Drew Allen, who opened the season as the school's starter. Allen had thrown six interceptions and two touchdowns in three games. Comparatively, Hunt threw three touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 17 of 22 attempts. This will be the sophomore's first career start.
