AP's Tim Reynolds reports that redshirt freshman QB Kevin Olsen "is no longer" enrolled at the University of Miami.
The former four-star recruit had previously been suspended for a failed drug test and recently was suspended by the Hurricanes for a third time. Olsen was charged Monday morning with a DUI and having a fake or stolen driver's license. Last year there were reports that surfaced that head coach Al Golden was not pleased with Olsen's development, while some mentioned him as the team's possible starter this summer. In another tweet Reynolds added that, "Olsen considered a transfer earlier this season anyway, so this is zero surprise, especially after the latest chapter." Sep 16 - 2:06 PM

One source told the AP's Tim Reynolds it would be a "total surprise" if redshirt freshman QB Kevin Olsen is still on Miami's football team on Tuesday.

"For as furious as Al Golden has to be with Kevin Olsen, it says something that he spoke repeatedly about concern for the kid's well-being," Reynolds added. Golden told reporters he was disappointed in Olsen's development last year and later suspended the quarterback following a failed drug test. Olsen was arrested on a DUi charge over the weekend.

Miami redshirt freshman QB Kevin Olsen was arrested on a DUI charge over the weekend.

Olsen had previously been suspended for a failed drug test. Reports surfaced last year that head coach Al Golden was not pleased with Olsen's development, but some mentioned him as the team's possible starter this summer. The suspension did not help, but it seems that Brad Kaaya now has a hold on that job.

Miami coach Al Golden said suspended redshirt freshman QB Kevin Olsen will "absolutely" be at practice when it begins.

Golden refused to comment on Olsen's status during Monday's news conference, but multiple outlets have already reported that he's been suspended for the season opener due to a failed drug test. Former Kansas and BYU fifth-year transfer Jake Heaps could be the frontrunner to assume starting duties out of the chute, but this is a wide-open competition.

Miami suspended redshirt freshman QB Kevin Olsen for at least one game after he failed a drug test.

Olsen, the younger brother of NFL tight end Greg, redshirted during his first season. Miami's quarterback situation is a bit of a mess right now, with Ryan Williams still recovering from injury and Olsen missing at least one game. Former BYU and Kansas quarterback Jake Heaps is the odds on favorite to open the season as the starter.

Miami coach Al Golden is not pleased with freshman quarterback Kevin Olsen's development.

"He's got to learn the game," Golden said. "He's got to be obedient to a regimen to be a quarterback and it's got to be the same everyday. He's got to be disciplined in terms of that. He's not there yet. He hasn't owned the process. He's got to really improve the mental aspects of his game so that he can play the game fast and he can't waste his time, can't waste this year." It's become apparent that Olsen will redshirt this season. "He's got to get better," Golden said. "He's out here right now throwing. He's got to. He's got to be out here throwing everyday. And when we're not throwing he's got to be throwing anyway." Olsen was a four-star member of the 2013 recruiting class. He's the younger brother of Panthers tight end Greg.
