Andre Maloney, one of Kansas' top 2014 recruits, suffered a stroke during a high school game on Thursday and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Maloney became disoriented on his team's sideline after racing to a 63-yard touchdown reception. "He was pretty much untouched, so I don't think anybody would say it happened on the play," Overland Park (Kan.) Shawnee Mission West athletic director Don Perkins told the Kansas City Star. "For me to say anything else would be speculation, but obviously our thoughts and prayers are with him." Maloney, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound three-star athlete, chose the Jayhawks over Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. "As a family guy and loving father, there are no words to describe my sorrow!" KU coach Charlie Weis tweeted.
