Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes that Virginia Tech redshirt senior DT Ricky Walker reminds him of former Virginia Tech DT Tim Settle.

Walker (6'2/300) isn't as big as Walker, but they have similar styles of play according to Pauline. "Walker is an explosive tackle with nice size and athleticism," writes Pauline, "but needs to properly condition himself off the field or else he will drop down draft boards -- just like Settle did." He currently grades Walker as a fifth-round grade, but that could go up if he addresses the issues Pauline mentions.

Virginia Tech redshirt junior DT Ricky Walker will return to school for the 2018 season.

Walker (6'2/270) earned All-ACC honorable mention for his work during the 2017 season. For the campaign, the redshirt junior turned in 41 tackles (12.5 for loss) and 4.5 sacks, plus a fumble recovered and returned for a touchdown. His return to Blacksburg is particularly sweet for the Hokies given that they just lost fellow DT Tim Settle to a draft declaration.

Ricky Walker, a four-star defensive tackle, committed to Virginia Tech on Sunday.

Walker immediately became Virginia Tech's highest-rated defender in the 2014 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, 270-pounder ranks No. 25 amongst defensive tackles, according to ESPN. Walker is adapt at both run stopping and collapsing the pocket as a pass rusher, and the thought is that he'll easily add bulk when under supervision of an elite college strength and conditioning program.
