Chargers selected Arkansas State NT Ryan Carrethers with the No. 165 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Carrethers (6-foot-1 1/4, 337) was a favorite of Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris on tape for his consistent finishing ability as a two-down run stopper. He faced a lot of double teams in the Sun Belt, and held his own. Carrethers finished his career with 14.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, and ranked third in the nation in tackles by a defensive lineman (93) as a senior. Although he'll likely leave the field on all passing downs in the pros, Carrethers is an active nose tackle who should make an impact in the run game fairly quickly. The Chargers need some beef up front, and Carrethers offers it. May 10 - 3:35 PM

Arkansas State redshirt senior DT Ryan Carrethers registered 16 total tackles in the school's 23-7 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.

We usually don't post tackle numbers, but this was a ridiculous out for Carrethers. The senior will likely earn an all star game invited after the season and should put on a good workout at the Combine. The stout nose tackle prospect could be a "riser," but he has posted solid film all season.
