USC redshirt senior LB Lamar Dawson will return to the field for the first time in almost two seasons when the Trojans play Stanford Saturday.
Dawson missed all of last season while recovering from a 2013 knee injury and was held out of the first two games this year because of broken ribs. Dawson started seven games prior to the injuries and is known to work through trash and avoid blocks well. Sep 18 - 12:52 PM

USC redshirt senior LB Lamar Dawson (knee) "was playing better than ever" this spring after missing last year due to injury, wrote ESPN's Greg Katz.

Dawson, who has had all sorts of problems with a surgically repaired left knee, missing the past 1.5 seasons, is a prime candidate to replace Hayes Pullard at inside linebacker. "In the past, perhaps because he was ill-suited for Monte Kiffin’s Tampa 2 defense, he didn’t always deliver, but perhaps Justin Wilcox’s defense will liberate him in the same way that former Trojans running back Javorius 'Buck' Allen was liberated by a head coaching change and philosophical alterations," Katz wrote. If Dawson breaks out, he'll shoot up draft boards. If he doesn't, he'll be lucky to receive a camp invite next spring.

USC junior LB Lamar Dawson suffered a knee injury during Tuesday's practice and will miss the remainder of the season.

He will undergo surgery in the near future to repair damage. Dawson was a seven game starter for the Trojans this season. USC is dealing with all sorts of injuries, which only hurts their outlook to a disappointing season thus far.
