Notre Dame senior WR Corey Robinson retired from the sport due to concussions.
The 21-year-old student-body president said he will focus on other interests. "After much contemplation and prayer, I have decided not to continue playing football due to multiple concussions," Robinson said in a statement. "I couldn’t have come to this difficult personal decision without the incredible support from so many within the Notre Dame football program." The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder, the son of Basketball Hall of Famer David Robinson, possessed early-round NFL talent. "Playing in the NFL is an amazing opportunity," David Robinson, said. "Some people would give their left arm to do it. But at same time, if you have the opportunity to do other things – be a Rhodes Scholar, be student body president – those are things you need to weigh." Wed, Jun 15, 2016 05:51:00 PM

Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly indicated that senior WR Corey Robinson (concussions) will make a decision regarding his playing future in the coming weeks.

Robinson has been dealing with concussion issues throughout the spring. Said Kelly, "I think he understands that he's got to make a decision [regarding his future] here pretty quickly, because we're going to go right into weight training next week." The 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior has met with Dr. Jeff Kutcher, national director of Sports Neurology Clinic. They specialize in concussions. "It was great that we were able to get him with somebody with that kind of knowledge," Kelly said, "and I know he feels a whole lot better about that meeting." We should have further clarification as to whether Robinson plans on suiting up in 2016 in the coming weeks.

Notre Dame senior WR Corey Robinson sat out Wednesday's practice with a concussion.

While concussions are always cause for concern unless you're Jerry Jones, Irish HC Brian Kelly indicated that the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Robinson should be able to return to spring practice at the close of Easter Break next Wednesday. Last season, he logged 16 catches for 200 yards and a score. Notre Dame faces a number of questions on offense they must sort through this spring and summer. On the receiving end of things, Robinson could see a production bump with Will Fuller exiting stage left for the NFL Draft.

Notre Dame junior WR Corey Robinson was voted the student-body president.

Said Robinson, "It feels very humbling to be able to be announced the president and vice president of Notre Dame." He and VP Rebecca Blais won out over two other tickets. Over the summer, NFL Media rated the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder one of "college football's smartest players," so the Irish kiddies should be in good hands here. On the football field, Robinson caught 16 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers could receive a bump next season, given that Notre Dame is looking to replace the production of wideouts William Fuller and Chris Brown.

NFL Media ranks Notre Dame junior WR Corey Robinson No. 3 on its list of "College football's smartest players."

"An Academic All-American, Robinson -- the son of Basketball Hall of Fame inductee David Robinson -- is only a junior this fall and has already earned the school's Rockne Student-Athlete Award. He carries a 3.83 GPA and has been on the school's dean's list every semester he's been there," wrote College Football 24/7 writer Chase Goodbread. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Robinson hauled in 40 catches for 539 yards and five touchdowns in 2014. Robinson was second on Notre Dame in receptions and TD grabs and should be one of Malik Zaire's favorite targets this season.

Notre Dame sophomore WR Corey Robinson caught eight passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns in the school's 31-27 loss to FSU.

Robinson does not have his father's 7'1" height, but he is plenty tall for the receiver position and uses it effectively. He is not currently a full-time player, however, Robinson is a tremendous weapon for Everett Golson. Expect him to continue his upward trend.

Notre Dame freshman caught one pass for 35 yards that went for his first career touchdown in a 45-10 win over Air Force.

Robinson is the son of NBA legend David Robinson, so he should have some box out and high pointing skills. The 6'5/205 pound receiver now has five catches for 101 yards on the season.
