Draft Insider Tony Pauline believes Notre Dame senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams "is definitely a next level prospect who should seek a waiver for a special supplemental draft by the NFL."
"It will be interesting to see what, if anything, becomes of Ishaq Williams. I graded him as a potential middle round pick after the 2013 campaign but the defensive lineman/outside linebacker was suspended by Notre Dame in 2014 and most recently was denied his request to play this season by the NCAA," Pauline wrote. Unfortunately for Williams, he was involved in last season's academic fraud investigation. This will be the second straight season that Williams will miss. In three seasons, the 6-foot-5, 271-pound Williams played in 35 games, with one start. Williams has recorded 45 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble. Sep 1 - 3:56 PM

Senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams' appeal to play for Notre Dame this season was denied by the NCAA.

Williams was involved in last season's academic fraud investigation. At least one of the other players involved was cleared for the season, but Williams was not. It is unclear if Williams will try to play at a different level other than the FBS in 2015, or if he will sit out a second straight year and enter the 2016 NFL Draft.

Notre Dame senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams' status for this season is still very uncertain.

Williams is listed on the roster, but he still cannot practice. "...I don't have anything specific to report other than I know that that process is still ongoing and he will not practice until we get further information," head coach Brian Kelly said. Kelly previously said Williams' playing status might not be known until week one, and it seems like that is the timetable we are headed for.

Senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams is listed on Notre Dame's preseason roster.

Williams' academic standing has been unknown the entire offseason, and those who follow the team did not expect to know his likelihood of playing until week one. Williams was reinstated in June following last season's academic fraud investigation. We knew Williams was cleared academically by the NCAA, but now he may also be cleared by Notre Dame.

Notre Dame might not know senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams' academic standing until week one.

NBC Sports' Keith Arnold points out head coach Brian Kelly has called it "an NCAA issue now." Summer school ends on July 24 and Williams was reinstated this June after missing last season as part of an academic fraud investigation. If he is not cleared academically by the NCAA, Williams might spend his final season on the scout team.

Notre Dame has reinstated senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams.

Williams was another name involved in the academic fraud investigation and was dismissed from the team last August. He was expected to start for the Irish prior to that incident. He stands around 6'5/271 lbs and has rushed the passer from a three and two point stance.
Jun 2 - 9:55 AM

Senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams will not rejoin Notre Dame this season, head coach Brian Kelly announced.

Williams is part of the academic fraud investigation that involves four other Notre Dame players. Kelly did mention Williams would like to return for the 2015 season, likely his final year of eligibility. The head coach added Williams is not allowed to remain in school this semester.

Notre Dame senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams has been dismissed from Notre Dame due to his involvement with academic fraud, according to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman.

"The school conducted an internal investigation this summer, sources close to the program told FOX Sports," Feldman writes. "The investigation uncovered that the players had submitted papers and homework that were written for them by others." Williams has missed time due to injuries in the past, but he was expected to start for Notre Dame this season and offered some desirable NFL traits. The school's president refuted the "dismissed" portion of the report, but did say the four players are being held out of team activities.

Notre Dame senior DE/OLB Ishaq Williams will be on the radars of NFL scouts if he can produce this season, according to CBS Sports' Derek Stephens.

The 6-foot-4, 271-pounder runs a 4.87, so it's probably for the best that Notre Dame plans to move him from OLB to DE in 2014. "A limited but dependable contributor thus far with only one start in 35 career games due to a surplus of defensive studs in South Bend in recent years," Stephens wrote. "Williams is big, athletic, flashes natural ability as a rusher, and possesses impressive movement skills for his size. He makes the move to 4-3 DE from OLB now, and with the starting spot his for the taking, can he be disruptive enough as a senior to show up on the radar of NFL scouts?"

Notre Dame junior LB Ishaq Williams will continue to sit out due to a sprained ACL.

Notre Daqme faced Air Force and Navy in back to back weeks, which means plenty of cut blocks when defending the running game. These low hits have resulted in plenty of injuries for Notre Dame's front seven. "It’s unfortunate. It’s the style of offense that the academies play," head coach Brian Kelly said. "It is what it is."

Notre Dame junior LB Ishaq Williams (knee) is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against Navy.

Williams suffered a knee injury in the Fighting Irish's victory over Air Force. That game marked his first career start, and it came as a down lineman. Williams is listed as an outside linebacker, but he has defensive end size at 6-foot-5 1/2 and 261 pounds.
