Raiders selected Utah CB Keith McGill with the No. 116 overall pick in the NFL draft.
McGill (6-foot-3, 211) made only 13 career starts for the Utes, missing all of 2012 with a major shoulder injury. He didn't play football in 2008, before taking it back up in JUCO for the 2009-2010 seasons. McGill is already 25, but was a draftnik favorite for his upside as a press corner with Brandon Browner-like size and 33 1/4-inch arms. McGill is still learning how to play press, of course, after being used as a safety and off-zone corner in college. 25-year-old projects don't typically end well in the NFL, but perhaps McGill will beat the odds. "Most" teams view Utah DB Keith McGill as a S and not a CB, according to draft insider Tony Pauline.

Pauline notes that McGill "looks impressive in training (and is) expecting a great result at combine." Our own Josh Norris was impressed with McGill's Senior Bowl week, but he is strictly a press corner with size. Utah used him incorrectly too often.
Tue, Feb 18, 2014 10:22:00 AM's Mike Huguenin believes a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine is of vital importance to Utah CB Keith McGill.

"At 6-foot-3, 214 pounds, McGill played a lot of safety with the Utes and is a physically imposing corner, which NFL teams covet, thanks to Seattle's suffocating style of play," wrote Huguenin. "But does he truly have the speed and quickness to be a corner in the NFL?" McGill has spectacular size and is scheme versatile, but he's going to have to answer questions about his wheels and spotty medical history.

Utah CB Keith McGill will attend the 2014 Senior Bowl.

Draft insider Tony Pauline broke the news last week, but it is now official. McGill has spent time at both corner and safety, which could help his evaluation as a nickel defensive back. He does have an injury history.

Utah senior DB Keith McGill is expected to play in the Senior Bowl, according to draft insider Tony Pauline.

He received an invite last week. McGill's spectacular size (6-foot-3, 205 pounds), combined with his versatility (he can play either cornerback or safety) ensure that he'll get a long look from scouts. He missed all of last season with an injury and was limited to five games in 2011.

Utah senior DB Keith McGill received an invite to the Senior Bowl.

McGill possesses spectacular size (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) and can play either cornerback or safety. He missed all of last season with an injury and was limited to five games in 2011. That won't help his draft stock.
