Bengals selected West Virginia DE Will Clarke with the No. 88 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Clarke (6-foot-6, 271) ranked second in the Big 12 in tackles for loss (17) as a senior, adding six sacks. A high-ceiling prospect with a long, wiry frame, Clarke's college tape was maddeningly inconsistent, but he is very light on his feet and looks like an NFL small forward on the field. He ran a 4.77 forty at the Combine with a 32-inch vertical and 22 reps on the bench. Clarke may need a year before he's ready to contribute, but offers NFL starter potential as a left end. He'll compete for playing time initially with Margus Hunt, Wallace Gilberry, and Robert Geathers. Carlos Dunlap has moved to right end. May 9 - 10:48 PM

NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock says West Virginia DE Will Clarke "is one of the fastest risers in the draft."

The 6-foot-6, 271-pounder has a great motor, can rush the passer, is surprisingly agile, and holds up at the point of attack more often than you'd think for having such a wiry build. The club that drafts him will have an assignment for its strength and conditioning coach: Bulk up that Clarke kid. Mayock sees Clarke going in Round 3.

West Virginia DE Will Clarke led the list of NFL.com writer Charles Davis' defensive draft sleepers.

"His 6-foot-6, 271-pound frame makes him look more like an outside linebacker, but Clarke has been a defensive end," wrote Davis. "He has a tremendous motor and never gives up on a play. He's known more for his pass-rushing ability, but he holds the point of attack better than you might expect from a guy his size." Clarke is a surprisingly agile athlete who will need to continue packing weight onto his wiry frame.

Senior Bowl Director Phil Savage was pleasantly surprised with West Virginia DE Will Clarke's work in practice.

Clarke stands a towering 6-foot-7, 271 pounds and is a surprisingly agile athlete. Although WVU's coaching staff complimented Clarke for his weight room work after showing up to campus as a lean 235-pounder, he'll have to continue bulking up his spidery frame. Savage notes that Clarke looks like he weighs only 240 pounds. "Will has a quick first step and a subtle closing burst to the QB when he gets close," Savage said. "He needs to play lower when confronting direct runs, but has enough agility to pursue from the backside. He will have a busy spring because all 32 NFL teams will want to get to know this 'under-the-radar' prospect better prior to the draft in May."

West Virginia DE Will Clarke has been invited to the East-West Shrine game.

Clarke stands a towering 6-foot-7, 271 pounds and is a surprisingly agile athlete. He's the type of player that will make a jaw-dropping play and then disappear for large segments of a game. Clarke needs some technique work and will also need to continue working hard in the weight room (he's been lauded at WVU for doing so after showing up to campus as a lean 235-pounder), but he has the measurables to impress in a showcase such as this.
