ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that South Dakota State OLB Tyler Starr visited with the Patriots and had a private workout for the Colts.

The 6-foot-4 250 pound Starr impressed scouts with the fastest 3-cone time for linebackers (6.64). He has experience playing end, linebacker, and has showed the ability to drop into coverage throughout his career with the Coyotes. Starr is projected to go anywhere from the mid-to-late rounds of the draft.

South Dakota State OLB Tyler Starr's 6.64 second 3-cone drill was tops amongst linebackers at the NFL Combine.

Starr (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) didn't break the 3-cone record, as he'd hoped, falling short of former Oregon receiver Jeff Maehl's 6.42. Starr had been clocked at 6.29 in training. Unfortunately, Starr ran an unimpressive 4.95 forty, 0.2 seconds slower than expected.

South Dakota State OLB Tyler Starr wants to break the 3-cone drill record at the NFL Combine.

The NFL considers former Oregon receiver Jeff Maehl's 6.42 to be the top time in recent years, dating back to 2006. Starr has apparently clocked a 6.29 in training. "I think I can blow that drill out of the water," Starr told Our own Josh Norris values the 3-cone drill for pass rushers much more highly than other events.

South Dakota senior LB Tyler Starr has accepted an invitation to attend the East-West Shrine Game.

Starr is playing an outside linebacker role and likely projects in the same capacity in the NFL. He's listed at 6'5/250 pounds, which will interest evaluators if proven to be true.
