The NCAA has denied Louisiana-Lafayette senior QB Anthony Jennings' request for an additional year of eligibility.
As Jennings' request for an extra year had nothing to do with an injury, it was always going to be a shoot-the-moon scenario. No such luck. The quarterback's argument was that he played so sparingly in 2015 with LSU -- appearing in only two games and posting no statistics in that space -- that it should have been treated like a redshirt year. The NCAA is not buying that argument. Jennings transferred over to Louisiana-Lafayette after that 2015 season and started for the Rajin' Cajuns this past campaign. As he has been nixed on the additional year of eligibility, that officially puts Jennings' collegiate career to rest. "I wanted to wish him the best for the future and thank him for his time here as a Ragin’ Cajun," said HC Mark Hudspeth. "He has been a class act." Jan 16 - 5:11 PM

Louisiana-Lafayette senior QB Anthony Jennings completed 8-of-20 passes for 95 yards and an interception while rushing for 19 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 28-21 loss to Southern Miss in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Jennings scored his second touchdown on a three-yard run with 5:10 remaining in the contest. The run itself was not noteworthy, but the way it came about was a different matter. Southern Miss was nursing a comfortable 28-14 lead as they milked the clock in the fourth quarter, when Golden Eagles QB Nick Mullens decided to get frisky, tossing up a third-down deep ball down the right sideline which ricocheted off a pair of players only to wind up in the waiting hands of a Ragin' Cajuns defender. Jennings scored a short time later to draw his crew to within 28-21, but their final attempts to tie the score proved ineffectual. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound quarterback was unable to find the statistical click in 2016, managing just an 11/13 TD/INT ratio in 13 games. He did add nine touchdowns on the ground, though his rushing totals overall -- 341 yards, 2.4 YPC -- aren't particularly inspiring.

Louisana-Lafayette senior QB Anthony Jennings completed 17-of-26 passes for 210 yards while rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 33-26 win over Georgia Southern.

Jennings failed to throw for a touchdown, but did scoot into the end zone from 10 yards out six seconds before halftime. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound LSU transfer has thrown for 1,652 yards (62.4% completions) with a 9/7 TD/INT ratio through nine games. In that space, he has also rushed for 215 yards and four touchdowns.

Former LSU QB Anthony Jennings has been named the starter for Louisiana-Lafayette.

Jennings left as a graduate this summer, as he was behind Brandon Harris on the depth chart. Jennings has starting experience and should pair nicely with one of the best running backs in the country in Elijah McGuire.

LSU graduate QB Anthony Jennings transferred to Louisiana-Lafayette.

Jennings made the reported move official late last week. His arrival brings a fascinating subplot to ULL's starting QB competition. When Brooks Haack transferred to Northwestern State, sophomore Jordan Davis appeared to have locked up the gig prematurely. But now Davis has a real fight on his hands. The Ragin' Cajuns like their signal-callers dual-threat and creative. When he's right, Jennings is that. Jennings, however, struggled with accuracy at LSU.

LSU graduate transfer QB Anthony Jennings is reportedly in the early stages of transferring to Louisiana-Lafayette.

As a graduate set to earn his degree later this summer, Jennings would be eligible to participate immediately. Stuck behind Brandon Harris on the depth chart after losing a competition last season, Jennings' departure is not a surprise. He accrued a 12/8 TD/INT during his time with the Tigers, mostly as a sophomore.

LSU granted graduate QB Anthony Jennings a release from his scholarship.

Jennings intends to transfer. Penalty free, at that, as a graduate. Stuck behind Brandon Harris with the Tigers, Jennings will presumably now look for a school with a weak projected starter. "Anthony did a lot of really good things for our program," HC Les Miles said in a released statement. "As a freshman, he came in for an injured Zach Mettenberger and led us to a last-minute win over Arkansas and then he helped us to eight wins the following year as a sophomore. This is an opportunity for Anthony to put himself in a position to help another team have success."

LSU junior QB Anthony Jennings will not face charges over an alleged burglary and has been reinstated to the team.

Charges were also dropped against defensive back Dwayne Thomas and defensive lineman Maquedius Bain. "The decision is based upon the request of the victim that no charges be filed and inconsistent and contradictory statements provided," East Baton Rouge district attorney Hillar Moore said. "Although the conduct of these students in this situation is unacceptable, it is not one, based on the facts, that warrant prosecution, although their actions could have subjected them to such." The three players will be subject to in-house discipline, though Jennings is free to re-enter the starting QB competition.

LSU head coach Les Miles is confident junior QB Anthony Jennings will return to the team.

Jennings was arrested and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling back in mid-June and was suspended indefinitely in an incident two other players were involved in. Jennings was expected to start for LSU this season, or was at the very least leading the competition with Brandon hHrris.

LSU junior QB Anthony Jennings was arrested and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and has been indefinitely suspended.

Two other players were involved in the incident. Apparently the three claim they were retrieving items that were previously stolen from Jennings and taken to a West Campus apartment. Jennings was the team's starting quarterback last season and was competing with sophomore Brandon Harris for the starting job this offseason. If the charges stand, expect Jennings to miss game action.

Al.com reports that LSU HC Les Miles "hinted Wednesday that the Tigers' plan at the position may not change much this week," leaving LSU sophomore Anthony Jennings as the Tiger's starter.

The 6-foot-2, 211-pound Jennings, has started all four games for LSU this season, throwing for 723 yards and five touchdowns, while completing 51 percent of his passes and throwing one interception. Miles had mentioned that freshman Brandon Harris could get more playing time moving forward. Harris has thrown for 216 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, and has completed 68 percent of his passes this season. While Miles is leaning more towards Jennings, he believes Jennings "is a guy that's recognizing that he needs to improve."

LSU sophomore Anthony Jennings will start at QB in the season opener, according to beat writer Jim Kleinpeter.

Kleinpeter's source told him Jennings "edged out" freshman Brandon Harris for the starting gig thanks to a strong week of practice. Jennings started one game last season after Zach Mettenberger went down with an injury and certainly did not embarrass himself. The Tigers' offense will look totally different from a personnel perspective, however.

LSU sophomore QB Anthony Jennings and freshman QB Brandon Harris will both see snaps against Wisconsin.

The news comes directly from head coach Les Miles. Jennings stepped in for an injured Zach Mettenberger last year and did an admirable job. However, we believe LSU's offense last year was a perfect situation thanks to a strong offensive line, excellent receivers and solid running game. It could be more difficult for Jennings and Harris to produce consistency this season. We wonder if the two-quarterback system continues as the season goes alone.

LSU HC Les Miles said he is in no hurry to name a starting QB.

Sophomore Anthony Jennings took over for injured starter Zach Mettenberger during the final part of the 2013, but he is not locked in for the same gig this year. His top competition might be freshman Brandon Harris. This could be drawn out until LSU kicks off against Wisconsin on August 30.

LSU redshirt sophomore Anthony Jennings ranks No. 10 on Bucky Brooks' Quarterback Tracker, above more established prospects like Braxton Miller (Ohio State), Devin Gardner (Michigan), and Taylor Kelly (Arizona State).

"Jennings' inclusion on this list is a little premature based on his limited playing time, but I'm willing to take a chance on an exceptional talent who has shown flashes of brilliance in brief action," Brooks wrote. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Jennings has a big arm and is "a dynamic athletic [sic] with the speed and quickness to create chaos on the edges." Jennings looks to pass first, but Brooks believes he'll be a multi-threat nightmare. "Cam Cameron's experience coaching Antwaan Randle El at Indiana could help him transform Jennings into one of the most feared playmakers in the SEC," he wrote.
