Jets selected UCLA WR Shaq Evans with the No. 115 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Evans (6-foot-1 1/4, 213) made 32 starts for the Bruins after transferring from Notre Dame, tallying 133 catches for 1,956 yards (14.7 YPR) and 14 touchdowns. He also returned punts as a senior. Evans clocked a respectable 4.51 forty at the Combine with an explosive 10-foot-2 broad jump. A possession, Z-receiver type, Evans' ceiling is limited but he has a chance to develop into a stick-moving No. 2 NFL wideout. Evans has struggled to consistently catch the football, which is nothing new for Jets fans. May 10 - 12:55 PM

UCLA coach Jim Mora believes WR Shaquelle Evans will have an NFL career.

Evans ran forties of 4.40 and 4.48 seconds at UCLA's pro day and added a 4.37 second short shuttle and 7.04 second three-cone. Evans elected to keep his vertical and broad jump numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Evans' production dropped off last season -- he hauled in 43 catches for 617 yards one year after recording 60 receptions for 877 yards as a junior -- so it's good that he's secured the endorsement of Mora, a former NFL head coach. Interestingly, Evans had five more touchdowns in 2013 (eight) than he did in 2012 (three) despite recording 17 fewer receptions.

UCLA senior WR Shaquelle Evans accepted an invitation to the 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl.

Evans' production dropped off this season, as he hauled in 43 catches for 617 yards one year after recording 60 receptions for 877 yards. Interestingly, he has five more touchdowns in 2013 (eight) than he did in 2012 (three) despite recording 17 fewer receptions. "[The Senior Bowl] is huge for me," Evans told Inside UCLA last week. "I didn't really have the numbers I expected to have this year. I feel like I still played well, but I know that I'm still under the radar a little bit."
