Raiders selected Louisiana Tech DT Justin Ellis with the No. 107 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Ellis (6-foot-1 7/8, 334) played his senior season in the 350s before dropping into the 330s for the Combine. A pure-nose prospect, Ellis managed 9.5 career tackles for loss as a three-year college starter. He ran 5.27 at the Combine with a 28-inch vertical, and did 25 bench-press reps. Ellis will offer nothing as an NFL pass rusher, but could develop into a quality two-down role player. May 10 - 12:43 PM

Louisiana Tech senior DT Justin Ellis offers little as an interior pass rusher, according to NFL.com's Bucky Brooks.

"Teams in need of a run stopper at the 0- or 1-technique could view him as an intriguing option," Brooks writes. We could not disagree with the evaluation more, as Ellis is at his best when extending his arms and getting upfield. Sure, he has the frame of a run stopper, but that is not Ellis' game. He flashed a nice spin move at both all-star events, however, at the Senior Bowl Ellis did attempt a rip move too often. He needs to improve against double teams, specifically lowering his hips and pad level.

Louisiana Tech senior DL Justin Ellis accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.

Listed on Louisiana Tech's website at 6-foot-2, 357 pounds, the Monroe, La. native is a lane clogger in the middle of LTU's defense. Ellis was nearly unblockable in college when he got his pads low, but he can be neutralized when he begins playing upright.
