Bengals selected North Carolina C Russell Bodine with the No. 111 overall pick in the 2014 draft.
Bodine (6-foot-3, 310) was North Carolina's starting center for two-plus seasons, earning All-ACC honorable mention in 2013. Bodine generated buzz at the Combine by repping 225 pounds 42 times, leading all players in Indy. Bodine possesses adequate athleticism (5.18 forty, 29-inch vertical) and is still learning to translate his weight-room strength to the field, but blocks with a mean streak. Despite up and down tape, Bodine is a 21-year-old with a chance to develop into a power-blocking starter in a few years May 10 - 12:50 PM

North Carolina C Russell Bodine "had a good positional workout, showing off his strong upper body" at North Carolina’s pro day on Tuesday, according to NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

Representatives from 30 NFL teams were on hand to take in the festivities. Eric Ebron was obviously the star of the show, but UNC had several other draftable prospects on display, including Bodine. The center decided to retain his combine numbers, which he was comfortably able to do after leading all participants in Indy with 42 reps on the bench press. "Bodine looks like a third-day draft pick (Rounds 4-7)," Brandt wrote.

North Carolina junior C Russell Bodine declared for the 2014 NFL Draft.

"It's been a dream of mine to play in the NFL and I feel I'm ready to take the next step in my playing career," said Bodine. "I have been thinking about this for several weeks, weighing all my options and discussing it with my parents and the coaching staff. I feel it is the right time to move forward." Bodine offers versatility, as he played a bit of left guard in 2013 in addition to his work at center. "We wish Russell the best as he takes the next step in athletic career," said UNC coach Larry Fedora. "He has been a good player for us over the last two years, starting every game on the offensive line, and has a bright future ahead of him."
