Updating previous news, Dallas gave UDFA Missouri WR L'Damian Washington a three-year contract with a $7,000 signing bonus.
It's a decent signing bonus for a UDFA, indicating the Cowboys were in hot pursuit of the Mizzou alum. Washington (6-foot-3 3/4, 195) played both the X and Z receiver positions in Gary Pinkel's spread offense, finishing his career with 100 catches for 1,735 yards (17.4 YPR) and 15 touchdowns. He's a one-trick-pony deep threat with 4.46 jets and long arms (33 3/8") who tends to catch the football with his body as opposed to his hands, and doesn't play with enough physicality to handle much volume in the NFL. He's a straight-line vertical receiver like Robert Meachem. Washington will compete for a roster spot this summer. May 15 - 9:22 PM

Missouri WR L'Damian Washington signed with the Cowboys.

Washington is easy to root for and he has outstanding measurables. His father was shot and killed, and his mother died from complications of a blood clot. Washington turned into a team captain, an emotional leader at Mizzou. The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder is a sort of poor man's Martavis Bryant -- he runs in the 4.4s and can pop the top off a defense, but he's a body catcher who doesn't look natural running routes. He can also be jammed. Many thought Washington would hear his name called in the latter half of Day 3, but he'll head to Dallas with a chip on his shoulder and the knowledge that he possesses all the physical tools one needs to crack an NFL roster.

Missouri senior WR L'Damian Washington will attend the NFL Combine.

Washington is a tall, lanky receiver with good long speed but he tends to bucket or body catch everything. This means he does not use his length effectively, but expect a team to select him on the third day.
