Wisconsin HC Gary Andersen will coach boundary LBs in 2014.
Andersen had previously given the job to a graduate assistant, according to Chris Vannini. The Badgers mainly run an odd man front, so generating disruption on the edge is very important. Andersen has plenty of defensive line work on his resume. Jun 24 - 1:16 PM

Wisconsin signed Gary Andersen to a new contract on Monday that will pay him $300,000 more beginning in 2014.

Andersen's 2014 salary has been bumped from $1.9 million to $2.2 million and he'll receive a $100,000 raise each year of his five-year rollover contract. After leading the Badgers to a 9-4 record in his first year on campus, Andersen flirted with the Browns in January. "Gary did not ask directly or even imply that his salary should be increased, but that only re-affirmed my thoughts about adjusting his compensation," Badgers athletic director Barry Alvarez said. "I've always believed that we should do what we can to keep good coaches in our department and that is why I wanted to take this proactive approach with Coach Andersen."

The Browns secretly interviewed Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen, reported the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The meeting worked out for both parties, as Andersen received an extension and a raise, and Cleveland hired Mike Pettine. Andersen, however, must sooth over some ruffled feathers in Madison now that his clandestine affairs have been published. "Officials from the Cleveland Browns contacted me to talk about their head coaching vacancy," Andersen said in a statement released by the university. "After our initial conversation, I decided not to pursue the position. I am committed to the University of Wisconsin and the student-athletes in our program."

Wisconsin extended coach Gary Andersen's contract by one year.

Financial arrangements weren't announced. Andersen's deal now runs through January 2019. He originally signed a five-year, $10 million contract when he arrived from Utah State last year. Andersen led the Badgers to a 9-4 finish and a Capital One Bowl loss to South Carolina.
