Former LSU redshirt freshmen QB Hayden Rettig transferred to Rutgers.
Rettig will sit out the 2014 season and retain two years eligibility beginning in 2015. The four-star member of LSU’s 2013 recruiting class was the No. 3 pro-style QB in the country coming out of high school, and the No. 73 overall prospect. Former LSU QB Hayden Rettig took an official visit to Rutgers on Tuesday.

Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman points out that Rutgers lost one of their quarterbacks when Phillip Nelson was let go. Rettig was previously rated as one of the top pro-style recruits in the country and is the brother of Chase, Boston College's former starter. Rutgers also offered Hayden a scholarship out of high school.

LSU QB Hayden Rettig confirmed to the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he will transfer.

The Times-Picayune speculates that Chase's brother could land at Boston College. Rettig finished spring practices No. 3 on the depth chart behind sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris. Rettig, a former four-star recruit, was the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the country in 2013.
