Auburn senior CB Jonathon Mincy "has the size, agility and speed to earn NFL attention," writes CBS Sports' Rob Rang.
Mincy (5-foot-10, 196 pounds, 4.52 forty) will not start Auburn's first game of the season versus Arkansas after being arrested and charged this offseason with second-degree marijuana possession (QB Nick Marshall has the same punishment). "Mincy has the size, agility and speed to earn NFL attention but his one career interception during that time is an obvious blight on his resume," Rang wrote. "Mincy is at his best facing the quarterback, showing an aggressive burst to close and is a solid wrap-up tackler." Aug 12 - 8:03 PM

Date:

Senior CB Jonathon Mincy will not start Auburn's first game of the season.

Mincy was arrested and charged this offseason with second-degree marijuana possession. The senior is a three year starter on a talented defense that will be looking to stop Arkansas in the opening game. Mincy could miss one play or as much as the whole game, and Malzahn will likely keep that decision to himself until kickoff. Quarterback Nick Marshall will also be held out of the starting line up in the season opener.

Auburn senior CB Jonathon Mincy was arrested and charged on Friday with second-degree marijuana possession.

Mincy was a passenger in the car in question which was pulled over by cops. "It was a routine stop on 431 near Great Southern Wood in Abbeville of a car doing 92 in a 65," Henry County Sheriff William Maddox said. "The officer went to the car and smelled marijuana. There were two males and two females in the car and one of the males had shake all over his shirt sitting in the car in the back and there was a bag of marijuana near him. That person happened to be Jonathon Mincy of the Auburn football team." Mincy, a three-year starter, was named in May to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, which honors the defender who makes the biggest impact on and off the football field.
