Rutgers redshirt senior S Kiy Hester accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Hester had a bit of a wirlwind collegiate career; he transferred from Miam it o Rutgers, and then after reportedly transfering from Rutgers to FIU this summer, he ended up staying with the Scarlett Knights. The 6-foot, 208-pound senior has shown the ability to make plays as a backend defender, and intercepted three passes as a junior. He'll have a chance to show his playmaking ability in Pasadena, but he currently projects as a late-round pick or UDFA. Mon, Dec 10, 2018 05:31:00 PM

Rutgers redshirt senior S Kiy Hester transferred to FIU as a graduate.

Hester (6'0/208) initially signed on with Miami as a four-star recruit in the 2014 cycle, but his career with the Hurricanes never got off the ground. He requested and was granted release from his scholarship in September of 2014 and subsequently moved on to Rutgers. With the Scarlet Knights, he saw the field in 29 games and started 19 contests (eight in 2017). This past season, Hester recorded 31 tackles while intercepting three passes. He ran two of those picks back for touchdowns. As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately during the upcoming campaign with FIU.

The Miami Herald reports that UM football coach Al Golden announced after Monday’s practice that freshman S Kiy Hester was given his release from the Miami Hurricanes football team.

"He has a personal issue at home," said Miami coach Al Golden. "He is a great kid. He has an issue at home and we have released him." The former 4-star recruit out of DePaul Catholic High in Wayne, N.J. is now free to transfer to a school closer to his ailing mother. The 6-foot-0, 205 pound Hester could land with Rutgers, which is the school Hester originally committed to.
