Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes that Florida State senior RB Jacques Patrick has seen his stock slide in the 2018 season.
Patrick (6'3/234) has operated as a backup this season -- as expected -- but he hasn't impressed as a runner in the 2018 campaign. Pauline gave him a sixth-round grade, but after watching him carry the ball for just 13 yards on four carries, he's not sure sure he's earned that type of grade in 2018. "Patrick is a bit of a tweener for the next level as a big, bruising downhill runner with limited quickness," writes Pauline. "Don’t be surprised if he moves from running back boards to fullback boards by next April." Mon, Oct 1, 2018 03:38:00 PM

Florida State senior RB Jacques Patrick rushed for 40 yards on seven carries in Monday's 24-3 loss to Virginia Tech.

Patrick (6'3/234) also caught five passes for 14 yards, but he like the rest of the Florida State offense struggled to get much done against a Virginia Tech defense that forced five turnovers. Patrick's seven carries were second-most on the team behind Cam Akers (14), which is something to keep an eye on moving forward given HC Willie Taggart using faster-paced offenses during his time at USF and Oregon. Patrick made nine starts last season, rushing for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline believes that Florida State senior RB Jacques Patrick is a sixth-round talent coming into the year.

Pauline notes that Patrick (6'3/234) is often talked about in the scouting community. It sounds like not all of that talk is positive, based on his report. "Patrick is a big-bodied ball carrier who picks up big yardage off initial contact and drags the pile if necessary," he writes. "He’s also almost solely a downhill ball carrier and tends to run tall with marginal lean -- not a good trait for someone who measures taller than 6-foot-2." Patrick could be a solid short-yardage back, but if other teams have similar concerns, it's tough to see him being more than a complimentary piece.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick will return to school for the 2018 season.

Patrick (6'3/234) earlier got in touch with Oregon RB Royce Freeman to ask about new FSU HC Willie Taggart. Freeman sent him back rave reviews. He'll give it a shot under Taggart in 2018. This past season, the junior rushed for a career-best 748 yards (5.6 YPC) and seven touchdowns. For all that respectable work, he was out-gained by true freshman Cam Akers (1,025 yards) and figures to play a complementary role to the former five-star recruit as Akers continues his development in the fall.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick will wait to make a decision on the 2018 NFL Draft until after Wednesday's Independence Bowl showdown with Southern Miss.

Patrick (6'3/234) reached out to Oregon RB Royce Freeman, who himself faced a similar draft decision last winter and ultimately opted to stick with the Ducks for one more year under HC Willie Taggart, now Patrick's coach in Tallahassee. Said Patrick, "[Freeman] had nothing but good things to say about the offense and Coach Taggart." The junior back has rushed for a career-best 687 yards (5.8 YPC) and six touchdowns this season. Should he throw his hat into the draft ring, Draft Analyst grades him as a potential selection for Rds. 6-7 come the spring. The presence of Cam Akers (who rushed for 931 yards as a freshman this year) very much figures to be a factor in Patrick's decision.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick had 19 carries for 155 yards and two scores in a 42-10 victory over UL-Monroe on Saturday.

With the victory, the 6-6 Seminoles have achieved bowl eligibility, a feat that once looked highly improbable. With QB James Blackman struggling, the Noles relied on their ground game, and both Patrick and Cam Akers went over 100 yards rushing. This was Patrick's second 100-yard game of the year. He finally looks to be healthy after struggling with a knee issue earlier this fall.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick had three carries for 28 yards and two scores in a 77-6 victory over Delaware State on Saturday.

FSU was able to limit Patrick's workload after they jumped out to a 56-6 lead at halftime. He'll get plenty of run next week at Florida.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick is "good to go" against Clemson on Saturday.

Just a few weeks ago Patrick was viewed as likely out for the season, but after no ligament damage was found in his knee Patrick made a speedy recovery. Patrick will join Cam Akers to lead FSU's backfield.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick (knee) practiced on Monday.

Patrick underwent a surgical procedure to remove bone spurs in late October and has sat out the past two games while on the mend. There was some initial fear that he might be forced to miss the rest of the season, but that does not appear like it will be the case. The junior believes that he will be a "full go" for Saturday's game against Clemson. Cam Akers exploded for 199 yards rushing against Syracuse this past weekend and may well see more carries than Patrick against the Tigers even if the latter player is able to take to the field.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Syracuse.

Patrick underwent a minor surgical procedure to remove bone fragments from his knee last week. While the junior was hopeful that he would be able to suit up against Syracuse, the Seminoles coaching staff will not be pushing him back into the fire at this juncture. True freshman Cam Akers will handle the lion's share of carries with Patrick currently down for the count. There is no concrete timetable for his return at this juncture.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick hopes to play against Syracuse despite undergoing a "minor" procedure on his knee last week.

It's an unbelievable recovery, as head coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters Patrick tore cartilage in his knee. However, upon examination, Patrick only needed bone fragments removed and no cartilage repair was needed.

Florida State junior RB Jacques Patrick is "most likely" out for the season with a knee injury.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters Patrick tore cartilage in his knee. The junior was splitting time with freshman Cam Akers, so expect the first year player to see an even larger workload now. Patrick apparently finished the game despite the injury.

FSU junior RB Jacques Patrick carried the ball 18 times for 98 yards in the school's 17-10 win over Duke on Saturday.

The Seminoles were so close to putting two running backs over 100 yards rushing. Patrick and Cam Akers have split time in the last three weeks, and their rushing totals have indicated that is a good decision.

FSU junior RB Jacques Patrick exited early against Miami with an apparent leg injury.

FSU junior Jacques Patrick rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in Saturday's 26-19 win over Wake Forest.

Have yourself a breakout day, Mr. Patrick. The junior entered this afternoon with only 55 rushing yards on 14 carries through FSU's first two games. Patrick had five more carries than true freshman Cam Akers (19 to 14) today. With the victory, the Seminoles avoided its first 0-3 start since 1976. Next week, FSU hosts Miami in a game rescheduled due to Hurricane Irma.
