Washington QB Jake Browning completed 7-of-13 passes for 101 yards and two interceptions in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Browning (6'1/206) was considered the top quarterback at NFLPA Collegiate Bowl practices, but it did not translate to the field. These all-star games can be tricky for quarterbacks and receivers to be on the same page, but it's a discouraging performance regardless. Browning needed to have strong showings at all of his draft events to have a better shot of being drafted, and this wasn't a great start outside of the good practices. Consider the Washington quarterback a priority free agent. Jan 19 - 8:15 PM

NFL Draft Scout's Ric Serritella writes that Washington QB Jake Browning was the top quarterback at practice on Monday for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Serritella notes that Browning showed the best footwork and mechanics, which isn't a surprise. The quarterback measured at 6-foot-1, 206, and that size isn't exactly ideal for a signal-caller. He also apparently had an issue at times throwing the wet ball, as the Los Angeles area was hit hard by rain. Serritella calls Browning a priority free agent, and he's going to have to dominate his events if he's going to get drafted.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning threw for 313 yards on 35-of-54 passing in a 28-23 loss to Ohio State on Tuesday in the Rose Bowl.

The Huskies' gameplan early seemed to be to throw as many dink-and-dunk passes as possible, but it came at the cost of giving the ball to superstar running back Myles Gaskin. We think it was a mistake. Browning missed on several throws, but also was really hurt by drops -- again -- and he made several throws that were at least reminiscent of an NFL quarterback. The lack of elite arm strength makes him unlikely to be drafted, but because of his accuracy and smarts, no one should be shocked if he carves out a role on someone's practice squad in 2019.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Browning (6'2/210) had one transcendent season with the Huskies -- he threw for 43 touchdowns in 2016 -- but failed to approach those operatic heights in the years surrounding. To whit, he has not thrown even 20 touchdown passes in any other one of his collegiate campaigns. While there is some low-key appeal in his experience and accuracy, a lack of arm strength (though he does have a nice touch) is going to be a major impediment toward his sticking on an NFL roster. If Browning does sneak into the draft this coming spring, it's probably going to be as a late Day 3 selection at best.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 21-of-33 passes for 187 yards with an interception in a 10-3 victory over Utah on Friday in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Browning's interception couldn't be less his fault; it was a perfect throw to Ty Jones that he dropped right into the receiver's hands. Browning missed on several other throws, however, and was bailed out by the Huskies' defense playing one of their best games of the year. We'll see Browning play in one more game when he faces the Big Ten selection in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 17-of-23 passes for 242 yards with three scores in a 42-23 victory over Oregon State on Saturday.

Browning was outstanding -- particularly in the first half -- and has his second three-score passing game of the season. He also ran for 30 yards, and he showed the accuracy and poise that made him a star as a sophomore. If Browning plays like this next Friday, the Huskies have an excellent chance of upsetting Washington State and playing for a conference championship.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 16-of-27 passes for 194 yards with a touchdown and also rushed for a score in a 27-23 victory over Stanford on Saturday.

Browning started out red-hot; completing 7-of-9 passes to start the game, and opening the contest with a rushing touchdown. He threw his touchdown pass on the next drive, but after that, Stanford pressured the heck out of Browning, and he was forced to throw the ball away more often than he'd like. Still, a nice bounceback for the senior after the (probably unjustified) benching last week. Browning gets a week off before taking on Oregon State on November 17.

Washington HC Chris Petersen told reporters at his press conference that senior QB Jake Browning is "absolutely" his starting quarterback for Saturday.

This should be an obvious point, but it was a worthwhile question to ask after Browning was bench for two series in the 12-10 loss to the Golden Bears on Saturday. Petersen said the benching was more about the offense than Browning, which is a weird thing to say. His replacement, redshirt freshman Jake Haener, threw a costly interception that was returned for a touchdown. The Huskies can still win the Pac-12 North if they win out, but they need Browning -- and the rest of the offense -- to play much better.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 11-of-21 passes for 141 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 12-10 loss to Cal on Saturday.

Browning was benched in this one for two series, and that benching ended up costing the Huskies the game. Backup Jake Haener threw an awful interception that was returned for a touchdown, and it gave Cal the 12-7 lead and ultimately the victory. That being said, Browning wasn't great by any means, although he once again wasn't helped by several drops. It's hard to believe this team was considered a playoff contender at one point. They'll take on Stanford next Saturday.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning was inserted back into Saturday's game at California after being benched during the third quarter.

Browning, who was solid from a statistical standpoint, was pulled from the game in favor of Jake Haener. Haener didn't fare much better, missing a wide-open receiver on what would have been a big play and then throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Haener led the Washington offense for one more series, which ended with a punt, before Browning re-entered the game. While this situation is unlikely to spark a quarterback controversy, it will be interesting to see how the senior reacts to his being pulled.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning was benched in the third quarter of Saturday's game against Cal.

Browning was 8-of-15 for 109 yards, a touchdown and an interception prior to being told to ride the pine. He was replaced by Jake Haener. We'll keep tabs on the quarterbacking situation in Seattle over the coming practice week, though we'd be somewhat surprised if Browning is in any danger of losing his starting job. Even with his sometimes puzzling play.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 15-of-25 passes for 150 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 27-13 win over Colorado on Saturday.

It wasn't Browning's best day, and he threw an interception that set up a field goal near the end of the second half. That being said, he was hurt tremendously by drops, so he deserved better than this stat line. His touchdown put away the game; a fourth-and-five dart to Aaron Fuller on a slant that Fuller took to the house to make it 27-13 in the middle of the fourth. Browning and the Huskies take on Cal next Saturday.

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 15-of-25 passes for 243 yards with a touchdown and interception in a 30-27 loss to Oregon in overtime on Saturday.

Browning's first pass of the game was picked off. After that, he was mostly okay, but they need him to make more plays with Washington unable to get off the field on third down against the Ducks. Another touch match-up comes for Washington next Saturday when they take on Colorado.
Sat, Oct 13, 2018 07:36:00 PM

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 18-of-26 passes for 265 yards with a touchdown and interception and ran for 49 yards and a score in a 31-24 victory over UCLA on Saturday.

Browning's interception was a high throw that went over the head of Aaron Fuller. After that pick, Browning was back to being his accurate self, but it was his legs that did much of the damage, as he converted on several sneaks and picked up a few huge first downs to keep the Bruins from pulling off the monumental upset. Browning and the Huskies are going to have to be much better next Saturday in Autzen against Oregon.

CBS Sports draft writer Chris Trapasso believes that Washington senior QB Jake Browning improved his draft stock with his performance against BYU on Saturday.

Browning was surgical against the Cougars on Saturday, completing 23-of-25 passes; with his final incomplete pass hitting the hands of a Washington receiver. Trapasso notes that Browning (6'2/210) didn't "over improvise" and used the entire field; taking advantage of the lack of pass rusher by BYU. "While not having a monster arm, he's more than capable of firing the deep out across the field that requires plenty of anticipation." writes Trapasso. "His pocket movement was improved against BYU compared to earlier games this season." It's very unlikely that Browning will be a high draft pick, but his accuracy, smarts and toughness is sure to intrigue NFL teams.
