Ohio State HC Urban Meyer said after Saturday's win at Maryland that redshirt junior RB Mike Weber is dealing with a quadriceps injury.

While Meyer did not provide any information with regards to the severity of the injury, it does explain why Weber did not play despite being in uniform. The redshirt junior has rushed for 711 yards and four touchdowns on 127 carries this season. J.K. Dobbins was the Buckeyes' workhorse Saturday afternoon, accounting for 203 yards and a touchdown on 37 carries. Ohio State closes out its regular season Nov. 24 against Michigan.
Nov 17 - 5:35 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior RB Mike Weber (undisclosed) has not played in Saturday's game against Maryland.

According to the ABC broadcast crew Weber has not played due to an injury that the team refused to disclose. As a result J.K. Dobbins has seen most of the playing time at running back, racking up 32 carries in the first three-plus quarters of the game. Weber has rushed for 711 yards and four touchdowns on 127 carries this season.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline lists Ohio State redshirt junior RB Mike Weber as one of his risers after his performance against Michigan State on Saturday.

A 104 yards day with a score on 22 carries is a nice day. It's amplified when you consider how dominant Michigan State has been at stopping the run this year, however. "Weber has terrific size, next-level power and good short-area quickness," writes Pauline. "He considered entering last April’s draft before returning to Columbus, and when Weber decides to go pro he will be great value outside the top 100 choices."
Nov 14 - 5:19 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior RB Mike Weber rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in Saturday's 26-6 win over Michigan State.

Weber (5'10/214) had not rushed for more than 100 yards since OSU's season-opener before he finally busted over the century mark against Sparty on Saturday. His two-yard touchdown run came near the end of the game and had no tangible impact on the outcome of the contest. The redshirt junior will look to put together another respectable performance against Maryland next weekend. Then it will be time for The Game.

Ohio State HC Urban Meyer says redshirt junior Mike Weber (foot) will play in Saturday's game at Penn State.

Weber suffered a minor foot injury against Tulane over the weekend. After the game, Meyer said he'd be okay for Penn State, and he doubled-down on that sentiment Monday.

Sep 24 - 1:59 PM

Ohio State HC Urban Meyer said that redshirt junior Mike Weber was dealing with a foot strain and "should be fine" for next week's game at Penn State.

Weber left Saturday's game against Tulane in the second half with the injury, and the immediate concern was whether or not he would have to miss any time moving forward. Based upon Meyer's postgame comments the redshirt junior will be ready to go for the Buckeyes' showdown with the Nittany Lions, with the winner taking the early lead in the race for the Big Ten East title.
Sep 22 - 7:45 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior Mike Weber left Saturday's game against Tulane with an apparent right ankle injury.

How serious the injury is has yet to be determined, and with Ohio State leading Tulane comfortably there wasn't much need for Weber to return. That being said the Buckeyes have a critical Big Ten East matchup with Penn State scheduled for Sept. 29, and they'll need Weber to be at his best in order to leave Happy Valley with the win. This is a major story to keep track of in the coming days.
Sep 22 - 6:23 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior RB Mike Weber ran for 186 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in a 77-31 route of Oregon State on Saturday.

Weber (5'10/215) struggled through an injury-plagued campaign last year. Now that he's healthy, it's clear that Weber is more of a threat to J.K. Dobbins' touches than we may have assumed over the summer. For his part, Dobbins posted a 15-74-0 line. We might see a straight timeshare going forward in the OSU backfield.
Sep 1 - 5:37 PM

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline calls Ohio State redshirt junior RB Mike Weber a "legitimate next level talent."

"He has the power to run on the inside, the quickness to create yardage as well as the agility to turn the corner," Pauline writes, adding that should the 5-foot-10, 214-pound Weber declare for the draft this winter, "he will be a bargain outside the initial 125 selections." This past season, he rushed for 626 yards (6.2 YPC) and 10 touchdowns while splitting carries with J.K. Dobbins. With the starting role all to himself during the 2016 season, Weber posted 1,096 yards rushing on 182 carries. His stats this year could well fall between those two earlier hashmarks. Draft Analyst currently spots him a fourth-round grade.
Jul 20 - 4:56 PM

Ohio State redshirt sophomore RB Mike Weber will return to school for the 2018 season.

Weber (5'10/214) made separate posts to Twitter and Instagram of "One more year" and "One more ride," respectively. It's an interesting draft call, as Weber was somewhat marginalized at times during the 2017 campaign as true freshman J.K. Dobbins emerged as the team's most reliable, explosive back. Dobbins isn't leaving, obviously. For his part, Weber ended the season having rushed for 626 yards (6.2 YPC) and 10 touchdowns. We like those numbers to see a slight bump next year. The team will be better equipped to manage a timeshare with an entire offseason to gameplan it -- Dobbins only truly emerged as an option due to Weber's hamstring injury sustained in August camp -- and Weber will presumably enter the 2018 season a healthy camper.
Jan 7 - 2:50 PM

Ohio State redshirt sophomore RB Mike Weber ran for 108 yards and two scores on just 11 carries in a 52-14 rout of Illinois on Saturday.

Weber now has rushed for four touchdowns and 270 yards on his last two games, and he's needed just 30 carries to do it. The 5-foot-10, 214-pound tailback had both of his scores in the first quarter; a four-yard plunge to open the scoring, and a 43-yarder that made it 21-0 Buckeyes late in the first. The Buckeyes have a lot of mouths to feed in the backfield, but Weber looks fresh and is playing at his best at the right time. A big game could be in play next week against Michigan.

Ohio State redshirt sophomore RB Mike Weber left Saturday's game against Illinois with an apparent arm injury.

Weber was holding his arm when he exited the game, and then appeared to be grabbing his wrist. He's questionable to return until we have further updates on his status. With this game a blowout, there's a chance he may not return at all.
Sat, Nov 18, 2017 05:34:00 PM

Ohio State redshirt sophomore RB Mike Weber rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries in Saturday's 48-3 demolition of Michigan State.

The Buckeyes took out some pent up frustration from last weekend's loss to Iowa against Sparty on Saturday. Weber went off for a pair of long touchdown runs in this exorcism of past demons, bolting into the end zone from 47 yards out early in the first quarter and then topping that burst with an 82-yard scoring gallop in the second quarter. While this was an impressive showing and one that we've been waiting for from Weber all season -- he had not rushed for more than 100 yards in a contest prior to Saturday -- freshman RB J.K. Dobbins received 18 carries to his nine and remains the team's ostensible bellcow back.
Sat, Nov 11, 2017 04:04:00 PM

Ohio State redshirt sophomore RB Mike Weber scored three touchdowns and ran for 44 yards in a 56-0 route of Rutgers on Saturday.

Urban Meyer said that Weber was "not a lost soul" and "critical" to the Buckeye offense earlier. He sure looked like it early on for Ohio State on Saturday, at least early on. The 5-foot-10, 215-pound tailback score all three times in the first half, all from short yardage. There's a lot of mouths to feed in this backfield, but Weber is clearly still a part of the Buckeyes rushing attack.
