Tennessee HC Jeremy Pruitt believes his team had the "best look" all year in Saturday's game against Florida.
We're not really sure if Pruitt was watching the same game as everyone else as the Volunteers got spanked 47-21 in their SEC opener. Pruitt also mentioned that "It is the best warmup we have had all year." It's possible he's just looking for positives in a contest where there weren't many of them. Unfortunately for the Vols, they now have to travel to No. 2 Georgia in the upcoming week. We look forward to the rose-colored takes from Pruitt after that one. Sep 23 - 10:41 AM

Tennessee is giving out free tickets for Saturday's game against UTEP to those displaced by Hurricane Florence.

Volunteers AD Phillip Fulmer said in a statement that "if we can provide just a few hours of distraction and normalcy for these families, I believe we should do all we can to make that possible for them." Those who live in South Carolina and North Carolina counties under evacuation orders can claim tickets for themselves and relatives beginning on Saturday morning, on a first-come, first-serve basis. It's a nice gesture on the part of the Volunteers.

Tennessee HC Jeremy Pruitt said he felt some of his players "flat-out quit" during their spring game.

Pruitt was extremely unhappy with how his spring game went and didn't mention any players in specific that weren't competing. Pruitt also interestingly called out the fans for not being good enough despite a little over 65,000 people coming out for the game. The first year head coach is going through the aches and pains of trying to turn around a struggling program. The former Alabama defensive coordinator is likely trying to light a fire in his players and re-establish a winning culture, something Tennessee is accustomed too.

Tennessee HC Jeremy Pruitt has barred music from playing in practice.

"I like to coach, and I like for the people to be able to hear me when I do coach," Pruitt explained after practice earlier this week. He noted that especially in the spring, as he is getting to know his team, this is particularly Part of Pruitt's justification is that music does not play during actual games. The lack of music is a minor matter in Knoxville and we wouldn't expect it to have much of an impact one way or another.

In his final game as Alabama defensive coordinator, Jeremy Pruitt earned a $234,000 bonus for helping the Tide to the national championship on Monday.

A nice going away present for Pruitt, who will be taking over as Tennessee's head coach in full now that he's helped to shepherd the Tide through the Playoff to title glory. Running through some of the other bonuses netted by Alabama notables for their win over Georgia, OC Brian Daboll will get $216,000, co-DC Tosh Lupoi $171,000, co-OC Mike Locksley $108,000 and HC Nick Saban $100,000.

ESPN's Chris Low reports that Tennessee HC Jeremy Pruitt is expected to be allowed to serve as Alabama's defensive coordinator in the Playoff.

Pruitt was officially announced as Tennessee's head coach on Thursday. Looks like he'll be pulling double duty over the coming weeks. That could potentially prove problematic. Alabama tried a similar tact with OC Lane Kiffin last winter after he took the head-coaching position at FAU, a tract which lasted just for the semifinal contest against Washington -- Steve Sarkisian took over coordinating duties in the National Championship Game loss to Clemson. Not only will Pruitt be attempting to guide Alabama's defensive unit against the Tigers (again) later this month, his first big recruiting test with Tennessee is just around the corner, as the early signing period for high school prospects will begin on Dec. 20. It could be a tall task to juggle both gigs. The Vols have some work to do on the latter front, as they lost multiple recruits following their decision to part ways with HC Butch Jones in mid-November.

Tennessee officially announced the hiring of Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt as head coach.

Our long national nightmare is over. After a coaching search which spurred mass protest after the program attempted to hire Ohio State DC Greg Schiano and whiffed on multiple candidates -- David Cutcliffe, Mike Gundy, Jeff Brohm and Mike Leach among them -- the Vols finally have their man. Pruitt is the 26th coach in program history. He was initially hired away from Georgia by Bama in the winter of 2016 to serve as the replacement for Kirby Smart. Pruitt might not have been Tennessee's first pick for head coach, but he's got recruiting roots in the south and has already fielded strong defenses against SEC competition. It's a logical hire.

ESPN's Chris Low reports Tennessee has finalized a deal to make Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt the school's next head coach.

This national fever dream has finally ended. The press conference to introduce Pruitt is scheduled for Thursday evening. At 43 years old, Pruitt is on the young-ish side for a head coach at a program at the level of Tennessee. He has plenty of work to do to make the Vols an annual contender. Bruce Feldman reports it is a 6-year deal.

ESPN's Chris Low reports that Tennessee is "in the process of trying to finalize a deal" with Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt for their open head-coaching position.

A possible marriage between Tennessee and Pruitt began to gather momentum in earnest on Wednesday, when he took his second interview with the team, one which touched on contract parameters and a framework for Pruitt's potential staff. One matter reportedly being discussed is whether the Alabama defensive coordinator will coach the Tide during their upcoming Playoff run. This is close to coming together, but given the way this unsightly job search has unfolded, we'll continue to monitor until the ink has dried on a contract. Should it fall through with Pruitt, Tennessee has also interviewed Auburn DC Kevin Steele and Georgia DC Mel Tucker this week.

Gridiron Now's John Brice passes along that negotiations between Tennessee and Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt are progressing on a substantive tract.

Pruitt reportedly took his second interview with the Volunteers in New York on Wednesday, with Brice hearing that talks have now reached the stage where the sides have touched on contract parameters and a potential coaching staff. While all of this is a positive sign for the coach-starved program, Pruitt should not yet be considered a slam dunk to head to Knoxville. One matter that would need to be settled before he were to come on board -- just what role Pruitt would play in Alabama's Playoff run. That falls very close to the early winter signing period for recruits, which begins on December 20. Beyond the Alabama defensive coordinator, Auburn DC Kevin Steele and Georgia DC Mel Tucker have both also reportedly received interviews from Tennessee.

ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Chris Low report that Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt is interviewing with Tennessee for a second time on Wednesday.

Per Schlabach and Low, Pruitt earlier met with Tennessee AD Phillip Fulmer on Monday. The pair of reporters pass along that Auburn DC Kevin Steele and Georgia DC Mel Tucker both received second interviews of their own from Tennessee on Tuesday. While the Volunteers have missed out on a number of coaching candidates since they fired HC Butch Jones on November 12, we would not be surprised if they finally land their man before the week's out. The early national signing period for recruits looms just two weeks over the horizon and the longer the job is open, the less settled matters will become in terms of recruiting.

SI's Bruce Feldman reports Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt has emerged as a "strong" candidate for the Tennessee opening.

We've seen his story start and end about three times already, but this time the nomination comes from Phil Fulmer and not former athletic director John Currie, who fans turned on. Pruitt just completed his second season with Alabama and replaced Kirby Smart as defensive coordinator.

Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt has interviewed for the open Mississippi State coaching job.

Pruitt is also apparently now a candidate for the open Tennessee job as well, but is considered one of Mississippi State's top choices, according to the Tuscaloosa News. The former coordinator of Florida State has helped Alabama rate first or second nationally in his two years with the program. It would not be a surprise to see him land a head coaching spot in 2018.

Alabama HC Nick Saban indicated that new DC Jeremy Pruitt is not involved in the team's preparation for the Cotton Bowl.

Pruitt's replacing Kirby Smart, who took the head coaching job at Georgia. While he's in the fold with the Crimson Tide, the Alabama native and former Tide DB isn't currently part of the team's preparation for their New Year's Eve showdown with Michigan State in the CFB Playoff. Saban explained to reporters that Pruitt's currently getting himself up to speed with the program and has begun to focus on recruiting.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Alabama has hired Georgia's Jeremy Pruitt as defensive coordinator.

Nice bit of symmetry here. Pruitt, the defensive coordinator for Mark Richt at Georgia, takes the place of Kirby Smart, who replaced Richt and let his staff go. Georgia led the nation in passing defense this past season. Pruitt, an Alabama native, played DB for the Crimson Tide and was a graduate assistant at the school in 1997.
