The Draft Network's Jon Ledyard views Georgia junior WR Riley Ridley as a "slightly more raw Michael Thomas."
Ledyard writes that while Ridley is not quite as polished at this stage of his development as Thomas at a similar point, he sees them as being on a "similar plane as prospects." The analyst is intrigued by the forward steps Ridley has taken in development since signing on with the Bulldogs, highlighting that the 6-foot-1, 198-pound junior's route-running "has made major leaps this season." Concluded Ledyard, "Growth isn’t linear for everyone, but Ridley’s improvement over his time at Georgia is a good indicator that his best may also be yet to come in the NFL." He believes Ridley could draw consideration as the top receiving prospect in the pool come the spring. Oct 16 - 7:20 PM

Georgia junior WR Riley Ridley caught five passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 43-29 win over Missouri.

Nice overall game for Ridley, with the 6-foot-1, 198-pounder showing out for several critical grabs in the second half to help keep the Tigers at bay. He's now caught touchdowns in three of four games, though Saturday's showing was Ridley's first with more than 40 yards receiving. While not the most consistent of receivers, he figures to continue to have his moments here and there as the season progresses. Next opportunity for a moment will come in a home showdown with Tennessee next weekend.

Georgia sophomore WR Riley Ridley caught six passes for 82 yards in Monday's 26-23 overtime loss to Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Ridley (6'1/198) largely outperformed his more famous older brother on the other sideline during the contest. The performance was made all the more surprising by the fact that the sophomore entered action on Monday having caught just eight passes for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He'll look for a clean offseason, now. Ridley underwent ankle surgery last winter and was later arrested in March for marijuana possession.

Georgia sophomore WR Riley Ridley (ankle) participated in practice on Tuesday.

Riley underwent surgery to repair an ankle injury initially sustained in a practice prior to Georgia's Liberty Bowl showdown with TCU. While the 6-foot-1, 198-pounder was not healthy enough for work at the beginning of spring practice, the hope was that he would make it back before the close. Check on that front. Ridley caught 12 passes for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns last season. He could potentially be forced to sit out one game this coming season as punishment for a March arrest on a charge of marijuana possession, though that has yet to be formally announced.

Georgia hopes that sophomore WR Riley Ridley (ankle) will be able to return to action by the end of spring practice.

Ridley continues to work his way back from an ankle injury suffered in the lead-up to Georgia's Liberty Bowl date with TCU. He ultimately underwent surgery on that ankle. Slow and steady, now, but a return could be in the offing for the near future. Said HC Kirby Smart, "We think Riley will be back by the end of spring, at least running, maybe not doing full contact but being able to run routes and do some things." This past season, Ridley logged a 12-238-2 receiving line. He may be facing a one-game suspension to start the 2017 season after being arrested for marijuana possession earlier this month.

Georgia sophomore WR Riley Ridley did not participate in the first week of spring practice due to a foot injury.

The extent and circumstance of Ridley's injury are not yet known, but according to Seth Emerson of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "it doesn't appear the injury is too serious." The 6-foot-1, 198-pounder was in the news for the wrong reasons earlier this month, as he was arrested and charged with marijuana possession in mid-March. That arrest could lead to a one-game suspension once the season starts. Ridley hauled in 12 passes for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a true freshman in 2016.

Georgia sophomore WR Riley Ridley was arrested for marijuana possession on Saturday night.

Ridley is facing a misdemeanor possession charge after being found with less than an ounce of the green. He was booked at 10:07 and has been released on bond. Georgia has not commented on the arrest, but a one-game suspension would be in line with the handbook guideline for a first arrest. This past season, the 6-foot-1, 198-pounder caught 12 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia freshman WR Riley Ridley (leg) should be considered doubtful for Friday's Liberty Bowl showdown with TCU.

Ridley was sporting crutches in the team hotel on Thursday morning and at this juncture, it would be a surprise if the 6-foot-1, 198-pound true frosh can take the field for Friday's festivities. He is currently sitting on 12 catches for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Georgia freshman WR Riley Ridley (ankle) was able to practice on Tuesday.

Ridley injured his ankle in Saturday's loss to Florida and subsequently missed Monday's practice, but those two things are not related. The freshman was absent on Monday due to a passing in the family. While the 6-foot-1, 198-pounder returned to the practice field (albeit with a heavy heart) on Tuesday, the Anthens Banner-Herald's Marc Weizer relays that he is not yet back to full speed due to that bum ankle. His playing status for Saturday's game against Kentucky should clarify further over the remainder of the practice week.

Georgia freshman WR Riley Ridley is unlikely to return to Saturday's game against Florida due to a left ankle injury.

Ridley caught a 14-yard touchdown pass in the first half, but he will most likely be sitting out the remainder of Saturday's contest. The 6-foot-1, 198-pounder ranked as ESPN 300's No. 242 prospect for the 2016 cycle. Expect an update on his health during the practice week. A road game against Kentucky shows next on the Bulldogs' schedule.

Prep WR Cavin Ridley, the No. 242 player in the ESPN 300, committed to Georgia.

Briefly committed to South Carolina, Cavin -- no "l" -- is the younger brother of Alabama star Calvin Ridley. "Ridley is a physical presence and has a knack for making plays on the 50-50 ball," wrote Tom Luginbill. "He has better size than his brother and, while he doesn't possess the same level of speed as Calvin, he's still faster than he looks on film." Ridley joins five-star, 6-foot-6 quarterback Jacob Eason in pledging to the Bulldogs as new HC Kirby Smart tries to revamp a lethargic aerial attack. ESPN compares Ridley to Devon Cajuste of Stanford. "Both players are of similar stature and don't always look like they're moving that fast, which allows them to lull defenders to sleep in a similar fashion," Luginbill wrote.
