Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Renfrow (5'10/189) won the Burlsworth Trophy on Monday, awarded annually to the best walk-on in the country. His best season came in 2017, when he logged a 60-602-3 receiving line across 14 games played. That was his only season over 500 yards receiving. He's sitting at 43-472-1 for the current campaign. While Renfrow's limitations are obvious -- a lack of overt athleticism and size are his most notable drawbacks for the next level -- The Draft Network's Jon Ledyard wrote in November that "in the right system, he can be a difference-making contributor in the short-intermediate areas of the field." Ledyard would be comfortable with using a Day 3 selection on the Clemson product if he were in charge of an NFL outfit. Thu, Dec 6, 2018 04:13:00 PM

Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow was awarded the Burlsworth Trophy on Monday.

The award goes to the top senior former walk-on player and he won the award over finalists California running back Patrick Laird and Wyoming safety Marcus Epps. You all likely know Renfrow as the receiver who scored the game-winning touchdown in the National Championship Game in 2017, but he's been a reliable receiver in his time with the Tigers, and he's over 2,000 yards receiving with 15 touchdowns in his career.

Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow (head) is expected to start Saturday's game against South Carolina.

Renfrow, who left Clemson's Nov. 17 win over Duke with a concussion, was listed atop the depth chart in the days prior to Saturday's game so his return to the lineup isn't a surprise. The redshirt senior pass-catcher is a solid contributor in the Clemson passing game, and he's also fourth on the depth chart at quarterback. Renfrow is currently third on the team with 36 receptions and fourth in receiving yards (392).

Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow (head) is listed as a starter on the depth chart for Saturday's game against South Carolina.

This is a pretty good indication that the Tigers currently expect him to be able to play against the Gamecocks. Renfrow left Saturday’s game against Duke with a head injury in the first half and was unable to return. Clemson HC Dabo Swinney has not yet announced if Renfrow suffered a concussion (or any other malady). Swinney said of Renfrow on Tuesday: "He's going good. Nothing's changed. He's just going to be day to day."

Clemson HC Dabo Swinney doesn't yet know if redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow (head) suffered a concussion on Saturday.

Renfrow was helped off the field during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Duke after landing hard on his head. "He was good today. He’ll be evaluated daily and that’s really it," Swinney said on Sunday. "I do not know that for sure. I know that (trainer) Danny (Poole) told me he looked good today and they’ll evaluate him tomorrow." At this point, we consider him questionable to play in the regular season finale this weekend against South Carolina.

Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow (head) was helped off the field during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Duke after suffering an apparent head injury.

Renfrow extended himself in an attempt to catch a Trevor Lawrence pass, and when he came down hit hit his head on the turf. The redshirt senior remained down on the field for a couple minutes before being helped to his feet by team trainers. Renfrow, who was taken to the locker room immediately, has been a key contributor for the Tigers for the last couple of seasons with regards to both production and leadership.

Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow caught eight passes for 80 yards in a 27-7 victory over Boston College on Saturday.

Renfrow was Trevor Lawrence's top option against the Eagles, and the eight catches are easily the most he's had this season. The sure-handed wideout hasn't had the same kind of success as last year's 60 catch season, but that has way more to do with how many weapons there are in the Clemson offense than anything Renfrow has done wrong. He'll look to build on this strong effort when they take on Duke next Saturday.

The Draft Network's Benjamin Solak believes that Clemson redshirt senior WR could be the next Cooper Kupp.

Kupp has quietly developed into one of the stars of the Rams' dynamic offense, and while Renfrow doesn't have the same type of size as Kupp (6'4 to 5'10), he has the type of skill set to transfer to the next level in Solak's eyes. "It’s a marriage of quickness and explosiveness to take sharp breaks that challenge cornerbcks’ leverage; body control and flexibility to run complex, multi-break routes; spatial awareness and intuition to fill in the gaps between zone coverage," writes Solak. "It’s a knacky thing, difficult to teach but undeniable when on tape. Kupp has it, and so does Renfrow. They just get open." If teams see similar comparisons between the two, there's a good chance that Renfrow will go in the middle rounds come 2019.

Clemson redshirt senior WR Hunter Renfrow has reportedly been taking some snaps at quarterback as part of a reduced play package.

This comes one day after QB Kelly Bryant, who was replaced as starter by freshman Trevor Lawrence, informed HC Dabo Swinney of his intention to transfer. Just how many snaps, if any, Renfrow sees at quarterback in Saturday's game at Syracuse remains to be seen. But with Bryant no longer in the fold Clemson feels the need to come up with an additional option to supplement what Lawrence is able to give them as the starter.

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein lists Clemson redshirt junior WR Hunter Renfrow 10th overall in his list of the top 10 pass-catchers to watch in 2018.

Zierlein is bullish on Renfrow -- his own words there -- because of his production and ability to produce out of the slot right now even if there are more talented prospects he leaves off his list like Louisville's Jaylen Smith and Buffalo's Anthony Johnson. "Renfrow's production is relatively modest (he had a career-high 602 yards receiving last season), but he has also played on teams loaded with NFL talent," Zierlein writes. "In clutch moments, Clemson QBs have not shied away from searching for Renfrow, and he's been able to deliver." We'll be curious to see if Renfrow has a breakout 2018 campaign. It certainly seems plausible.

Clemson redshirt junior Hunter Renfrow caught 77.3 percent of all targets from the slot, leading all returning ACC receivers.

Renfrow has proven to be one of college football's most reliable slot receivers and has increased his receptions and yards in consecutive years. Coming off a 55-571-3 season in 2017, Renfrow will look to take another step forward in 2018 as a target hog in the slot for the Tigers.

Clemson redshirt junior WR Hunter Renfrow posted four receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 34-10 win at South Carolina.

Renfrow connected with QB Kelly Bryant for the only two Clemson passing scores of the game. The yardage total was a season high and the highlight was a 61-yard connection for score to open the second half. The redshirt junior will look to keep it rolling into next Saturday's ACC Championship Game in Charlotte against Miami.

Clemson redshirt junior Hunter Renfrow caught six passes for 61 yards in a 28-14 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday.

Clemson didn't look great offensively, but they didn't have to be to dominate Wake. Tigers junior QB Kelly Bryant left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury, which further incentivized the run-heavy strategy in the second half. As for Renfrow, he's once again proven to be one of college football's most reliable slot receivers this fall. Renfrow owns a 29-282-0 line on the season.

Clemson redshirt junior Hunter Renfrow caught nine passes for 62 yards in a 14-6 victory over Auburn on Saturday.

Auburn kept everything in front of them, so the 5-foot-10, 172-pound Renfrow essentially became Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant's safety blanket. His long gain was 13, and most of his day was spent catching balls between five-and-seven yards downfield to keep things manageable. He'll get a chance to make more plays downfield against a much softer defense in Louisville next week.

Clemson redshirt sophomore WR Hunter Renfrow caught 10 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 35-31 win over Alabama in the National Championship Game.

Renfrow entered Monday's title tilt having caught a modest 34 passes for 403 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. But as with the initial championship showdown between the Tide and Tigers last season, the 5-foot-10, 172-pounder came through huge in the biggest game of the season. A year ago, he notched seven catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns. He posted an even better overall game on Monday, scoring on a 24-yard scoring grab up the middle in which he made a few shifty moves on his way to the end zone to cut Alabama's third-quarter lead to 17-14. Fast-forward to the end of the fourth quarter, when Renfrow earned himself a place in history with a little two-yard touchdown grab in the right flat to give Clemson a 35-31 lead with a second remaining. That would stand as the final score.
