UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Wilson (6'4/233) was a monster this season, recording a 60-964-4 receiving line to earn first-team All-Pac-12 recognition. All three marks on that line stand as the best of his career. Now onward to the NFL Draft. The Draft Network's Benjamin Solak refers to Wilson as an "[e]xcellent hands catcher who has no trouble snagging high-velocity balls away from his frame and at odd angles with long arms and powerful mitts." In terms of his pro demerits, the analyst notes that Wilson will need to bulk up to start in the NFL and that he has shown subpar lateral quickness, which has in turn caused issues in pass protection. Walter Football's Charlie Campbell ranks Wilson as the No. 4 draft-eligible tight end in the 2019 pool. Dec 6 - 2:27 PM

Date:

UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson caught nine passes for 184 yards in Saturday's 49-42 loss to Stanford.

Wislon (6'4/233) kept picking up first downs with 10+ yard gains but his biggest pickup of the game went for 66 yards. The redshirt junior has been thriving recently under Chip Kelley, and NFL scouts will appreciate his receiving ability whenever he jumps to the next level. Wilson is draft eligible, and, should he declare, he will be in the mix as a Day 2 or Day 3 pick in the NFL Draft. The redshirt junior ends the year averaging over 16 yards per catch on his 60 grabs, so it's likely that he's NFL bound.
Nov 24 - 7:48 PM

UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson caught 11 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 31-28 loss to Arizona State.

This was arguably his best game of his career, as it was his first multi-touchdown game ever and his second-highest yardage game of his career. For one of his scores, Wilson (6'4/233) made a diving touchdown grab in the corner of the end zone, which shows off his athleticism that will be tested at the NFL combine either this year or next. Wilson is ending his redshirt junior campaign well with six straight games with at least 62 receiving yards, but the Bruins have the biggest game of their season next week against USC.
Nov 10 - 7:14 PM

UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson brought in five receptions for 92 yards in a 37-7 blowout of Cal on Saturday.

Wilson has really come on strong, and shown that last year's impressive numbers before the foot injury were no fluke. The 6-foot-4, 233-pound tight end has just one touchdown this year, but he's gone over 90 yards in three of the Bruins' six games in 2018. He should continue to be involved -- and maybe find the end zone -- next Saturday when UCLA faces Arizona.
Oct 13 - 10:28 PM

UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson snagged eight passes for 102 yards with a score in a 31-24 loss to Washington on Saturday.

After two poor games in a row, Wilson was excellent against a tough Husky defense, finding seams in the Washington zone and picking up a season-high in the eight catches. His touchdown was on an outlet throw from Dorian Thompson-Robinson, with Wilson doing most of the work by shaking of corner Jordan Miller from nine yards out to cut the score to 24-17 in the fourth quarter. Wilson will look to repeat this next week against California on October 13.
Oct 6 - 11:17 PM

UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson hauled in four passes for 92 yards in a 49-21 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday.

Wilson did most of his damage on one play, a 65-yard strike from Dorian Thompson-Robinson that set up a UCLA touchdown. He was able to haul in three more passes, but they were for relatively short yardage. The most important thing is that Wilson looks healthy, and he's showing he's capable of being a play-making tight end even without Josh Rosen. He should get more targets next Saturday against Fresno State.
Sep 8 - 4:57 PM

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline gives UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson a sixth round grade.

According to Pauline, Wilson (6'5/225) is "an athletic pass-catching tight end who splits the seam and creates mismatches in the middle of the field." In a limited 2017 season, Wilson recorded 38 catches for 490 yards -- a 12.9 yards per catch clip -- with one score. However, Wilson has missed time with a foot injury, and Pauline is worried that his upside is limited.
Sep 7 - 12:39 PM

UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson (foot) practiced over the weekend.

Wilson (6'5/225) has been on the sidelines since early October after sustaining a foot injury that required subsequent surgery. Pro Football Focus lists Wilson as one of the top tight ends to watch for in the 2019 NFL Draft after he recorded 38 catches for 490 yards and one touchdown in his half season of work a year ago. If Wilson can stay healthy, HC Chip Kelly and the Bruins figure to lean hard on him. This is a team lacking a fair bit of offensive firepower and the redshirt junior tight end is one of the few weapons that they do have at their disposal.

Athlon Sports named UCLA redshirt junior TE Caleb Wilson (foot) to their preseason All-American fourth team.

Wilson (6'5/225) was in the midst of a stellar 2017 season when he sustained a broken foot against Colorado at the end of September. He had already piled up 38 catches for 490 yards at that time. We'll have to wait until August camp to see just how close he is to full health, as he wasn't doing much during spring practice.

Pro Football Focus lists UCLA TE redshirt junior Caleb Wilson as one of the top TEs to watch for in the 2019 NFL Draft class.

As PFF notes, Wilson was off to a dominant season before he was lost for the season in October to foot surgery. The fact the was able to put up 38 catches for 490 yards playing a little less than half a season is very impressive, and it shows in his 93.4 grade in that time. PFF also notes that he was one of the more efficient players, averaging 2.44 yards per route, which ranked eighth in the national in 2017.

UCLA redshirt sophomore TE Caleb Wilson needs foot surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.

Wilson hobbled off the field in the fourth quarter against Colorado. It is a major loss for the Bruins offense, since Wilson and Josh Rosen had really formed a bond on the field. Wilson produced 38 catches for 490 yards and one touchdown before exiting.

UCLA redshirt sophomore TE Caleb Wilson caught 11 passes for 145 yards in a 58-34 loss to Stanford on Saturday.

Wilson (6'4/235) didn't score on Saturday, but he once again put up huge numbers for the Bruins. UCLA QB Josh Rosen clearly has chemistry with the tight end, and he looked to Wilson early and often; especially after UCLA fell behind three scores. This is the second double-digit catch effort for Wilson this year, and there could be more coming, possibly starting on Saturday against Colorado.

UCLA redshirt sophomore TE Caleb Wilson caught 15 passes for 208 yards in Sunday's 45-44 win over Texas A&M.

Wilson put forth a huge game to help the Bruins overcome a 44-10 third-quarter deficit. He led the team in both receptions and yardage and was a consistent friend to QB Josh Rosen, making several critical grabs to keep possessions alive in the second half. With this one performance, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound redshirt sophomore is now one catch and 12 yards away from matching his entire output for the 2016 campaign.

USC freshman TE Caleb Wilson transferred to UCLA.

Sneaky little move by Jim Mora. This is the backstory: Caleb Wilson's father Chris Wilson, USC's former defensive line coach, was dismissed by new USC head coach Clay Helton in late 2015. Caleb, a former two-star prospect, walked on at USC to be near his dad and have his tuition covered as the son of an employee. With the elder Wilson out, Caleb presumably asked for a scholarship and was rebuffed by the Trojans. Mora swooped in with a scholarship offer of his own. Because Caleb Wilson was a walk-on, he won't face a two-year eligibility penalty for transferring in-conference (but will have to sit out this fall). The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder runs a 4.7-second 40-yard dash.

USC freshman QB/TE Caleb Wilson denied reports that he will transfer to Old Dominion.

"Sorry for the confusion but I have not transferred to Old Dominion. I am still at USC," Wilson tweeted. Caleb's father Chris Wilson is USC's former defensive line coach. A three-star prospect from the 2015 recruiting class, Caleb Wilson committed to ODU last January as a quarterback but decided to walk on with the Trojans to be near his dad. In that situation, his tuition was covered because he was the son of an employee. That ceased to be the case when Chris Wilson was unexpectedly let go in December following Clay Helton's staff shakeup. Mr. Wilson is now at Mizzou. His son, a 6-foot-5, 215-pounder, runs a 4.7-second 40-yard dash.
