Clemson junior LB Tre Lamar declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Lamar (6'3/240) joins teammate Trayvon Mullen in declaring on Wednesday. Both will almost certainly be off the board by the end of Day 2 come April's draft, with Mullen generally seen as more likely to land in Round 1. This past season, Lamar logged a career-best 79 tackles to go with three sacks and an interception. He possesses a solid skill-set on the whole, though The Draft Network's Joe Marino noted in his September scouting profile that Lamar lacks some of the athletic upside and versatility -- lateral agility and range being demerits on his profile -- that would help him to fit snugly into the modern NFL game. Clemson junior LB Tre Lamar told reporters that he'll decide on an NFL decision after the championship game against Alabama on Monday.

Lamar believes he's ready for the NFL, and he's probably right. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker has been excellent for the Tigers in 2018, and he has been mentioned as a potential Day 2 pick by analysts. Lamar also said he wants to get his degree, but notes that's possible while still leaving for the NFL. We should know more shortly, with the deadline to declare for the draft coming up on January 14.

NFL Draft Scout's Ric Serritella lists Clemson LB Tre Lamar as a prospect to watch on Saturday against NC State.

Lamar (6'3/240) leads the Tigers in tackles this year with 41, and three of them have been for loss. Serritella notes the junior linebacker has "prototypical size, along with great athleticism and strength." He calls Lamar a top 100 pick at this point, but if he keeps playing well as the season progresses, he could see that stock continue to rise.

Clemson sophomore LB Tre Lamar (shoulder) will be available in the Sugar Bowl.

Lamar (6'3/240) missed the final three games of the regular season -- including the ACC Championship Game -- due to a shoulder stinger sustained against Florida State on Nov. 11. He had recorded 50 tackles (5.0 for loss) and four sacks prior to sustaining that injury. Just how much work Lamar will be able to handle against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl figures to be determined as the game unfolds. JD Davis is starting in his place to begin.
