LSU sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (ankle) was forced out of action in Saturday's game against Auburn due to a new injury concern.
Lawrence has been dealing with an ankle injury for several weeks, but it appears that he suffered an additional injury in the first half of Saturday's contest. The 6-foot-3, 309-pounder should be considered questionable to return. Sat, Oct 14, 2017 05:57:00 PM

LSU sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (ankle) practiced on Wednesday.

Lawrence has been dealing with a left ankle injury throughout the early season. He aggravated it once more in Saturday's win over Florida and did not practice on Tuesday. While his return to the practice field on Wednesday is a positive sign, the 6-foot-3, 309-pounder's status for this weekend's showdown with Auburn will not be determined until closer to kickoff.

LSU HC Ed Orgeron labeled sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (ankle) questionable for Saturday's game against Troy.

Orgeron has been frustratingly fickle in his injury designations, having previously ruled both Lawrence and RB Derrius Guice (knee) out for Saturday's showdown with the Trojans before reversing course and labeling them questionable. For his part, Lawrence has already missed two games due to a left ankle injury. He returned to action on Saturday against Syracuse only to injure his right ankle. The 6-foot-3, 309-pounder has yet to practice this week.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron ruled out sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (ankle) for Saturday’s game against Troy.

Lawrence missed the Mississippi State and UT-Chattanooga games with a left ankle injury. He then suffered a right ankle injury last week against Syracuse. It's the latter injury that will force him out of action this weekend.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron is hopeful that sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (undisclosed) will return on Saturday versus Syracuse.

Lawrence has missed the past two games with an undisclosed injury. He has been seen wearing a walking boot. Since he was able to return to practice last week, we'd expect to see him this weekend against the Orange.

LSU sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (undisclosed) practiced in a full-contact purple jersey on Tuesday.

Lawrence was withheld from practice last week, and was spotted on the sidelines wearing a walking boot during the Chattanooga game. Hopefully this news puts him on track to return to game action this week.

LSU HC Ed Orgeron announced that sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence (undisclosed) won't play in Saturday's game against Chattanooga.

Lawrence (6'3, 300) was seen limping in Saturday's game against BYU, so the injury almost assuredly is leg-related. A five-star recruit, Lawrence had four tackles and half a sack in his action against the Cougars. Redshirt freshman Logan Allen will start in his place.

LSU HC Ed Orgeron said that sophomore DT Rashard Lawrence "is a starter now."

"He solidified that position. Along with being a starter, he has a 4.0 grade point average, one of the top players in the state. I'm excited about him," Orgeron said of the 6-foot-3, 309-pounder. He was a five-star recruit for the 2016 cycle and ranked as ESPN's No. 12 overall prospect in the class. SEC Country's Oliver Connolly sees Lawrence as a potential breakout candidate for the coming season, writing that he "looks the part of a future first-round pick." During limited action as a true freshman, Lawrence registered six tackles and a sack.

LSU junior QB Brandon Harris indicated that true freshman DT Rashard Lawrence has impressed him with his maturity and mindset.

"Rashard — he’s a great player," Harris said. "What I like about him is he’s really smart and more business-minded and understands what he has to get done, and he’s very mature for his age." The gunslinger called Lawrence a "leader" and a "great guy." A five-star member of the 2016 recruiting class, the 6-foot-3, 309-pounder ranked as ESPN 300's No. 12 overall prospect for that cycle. Scout.com has praised his "quickness and violence."

Five-star DT Rashard Lawrence committed to LSU.

Lawrence's decision came down to Ohio State and LSU. He visited the Tigers in mid-January before opting to side with HC Les Miles' crew. Said the 6-foot-3, 309-pound stud recruit, "I chose LSU because of the relationships that I have developed with the players, and I've always wanted to play in Death Valley." He checks in at No. 12 on the ESPN 300. This isn't anything new. LSU now has 19 commitments off that list. For his part, Lawrence offers "quickness and violence" off the line (per Scout.com). The scouting analysis outlet views him as "someone you build the defensive line around in the middle."
