Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
We expected plenty of Georgia players to declare for the draft after the Sugar Bowl, and we weren't wrong. Hardman (5'11/183) joins fellow Bulldog Riley Ridley in declaring early, and Georgia also loses tight end Isaac Nauta in the same capacity. Hardman caught 35 passes for 543 yards, and he also scored seven touchdowns for the 11-3 Bulldogs. Testing will be important for Hardman -- testing is important for every player -- but his ability to work from the slot and operate in the red zone should see him as a Day 3 selection at this point. Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman (leg) was expected to be able to practice with the team Monday.

Hardman (5'11/183) was banged up in Georgia's Oct. 27 win over Florida, returning to that game but then being held out of the Bulldogs' Nov. 3 win at Kentucky. The junior pass-catcher, who's caught 26 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns, is also a contributor on special teams for Georgia. With the Bulldogs having already clinched the SEC East, Hardman's status for the team's Nov. 10 matchup with Auburn is worth monitoring.

Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman (leg) has returned to Saturday's game against Florida after suffering an apparent leg injury early in the second quarter.

Hardman's return is good news for Georgia given how key of a playmaker he is in the passing game. The junior has caught 24 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman (leg) was taken to the injury tent after suffering an apparent right leg injury during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Florida.

It's been reported that trainers were looking at Hardman's lower right leg while on the field before walking him to the team injury tent. The junior wideout is a key playmaker in the Georgia offense, and with LT Andrew Thomas (leg) injured as well the Bulldogs can ill-afford to lose him as well. Senior WR Ahkil Crumpton is listed as Hardman's backup on the Georgia depth chart.

The Draft Network's Jon Ledyard said Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman is "the kind of player the NFL has shown the desire to find."

Hardman is coming off a 6/103/1 game against South Carolina. Ledyard said he "wheels most receivers can only dream of" and "he acceleration after the catch just destroys pursuit angles." Most of his catches were bubble screens including a 37-yard catch and run. A popular preseason breakout candidate, Hardman is up to 8-166-2 through two games and figures to continue his success against Middle Tennessee State next weekend.

Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman had six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 41-17 win over South Carolina.

The highlight was a swing pass behind the line of scrimmage from about 37 yards away from the end zone. Hardman lassoed it, turned the corner, broke a tackle, and flipped on the jets. Georgia has so many offensive weapons that sometimes a secondary option like Hardman gets overlooked. But make no mistake: This guy is lethal in space.

The Athletic's Seth Emerson writes that Georgia junior WR Mecole Hardman could have a big season for the Bulldogs in 2018.

You might remember that Hardman had a strong performance in the National Championship Game loss to Alabama; scoring two touchdowns in the overtime loss. Keep in mind that Hardman was converted from defense to offense just last year, and the 5-foot-1, 176-pound wideout has quality speed and can make people miss with the ball. The Bulldogs lost Javon Wims, and will need someone to step up in the passing game if they're going to compete for another title. It could be Hardman.

Georgia sophomore WR Mecole Hardman caught two passes for 80 yards and a touchdown while rushing for an additional one-yard score in Monday's 26-23 overtime loss to Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Hardman (5'11/176) did little in terms of volume, but several of his touches went for huge plays. He boosted Georgia to a 13-0 lead with his one-yard touchdown sweep to the left out of the Wildcat in the closing seconds of the first quarter, then scored from considerably further out midway through the third quarter. Sprinting down the right sideline, Hardman caught in stride a perfectly thrown deep ball from Jake Fromm and then proceeded to turn on the afterburners while maintaining his balance in a tightrope walk for an 80-yard touchdown. That gave Georgia a 20-7 lead, but the Dawgs' offense was essentially quieted from that point forward -- they would not score again until Rodrigo Blankenship connected on a 51-yard field goal in overtime. For his part, Hardman ends the campaign having totaled 479 yards from scrimmage, plus 776 yards between punt and kick returns. A true Swiss Army knife, the speedster figures to continue to blossom as a play-maker as he heads into his junior year.

Georgia sophomore WR Mecole Hardman has seen work in the Wildcat formation in practice.

While Hardman has seen practice reps in the Wildcat, HC Kirby Smart downplayed the significance of those reps. Said Smart, "Maybe if we lose a quarterback we have to do that. Maybe if Mecole does a good job, it’s something that somebody has to defend and the more things you give somebody to defend, the more challenging it is." Hardman (5'11/176) began his career at Georgia as a cornerback before shifting to wideout this offseason. He has been seeing first-team reps out of the slot during preseason camp.

Georgia shifted sophomore CB Mecole Hardman Jr. to receiver.

Hardman caught three passes for 62 yards during the spring game. The 5-foot-11, 176-pounder could always move back to corner if the coaches need him to. Hardman, a member of Georgia's track team, can also return kicks.

Georgia sophomore CB Mecole Hardman Jr. has been seeing work on offense during spring practice.

"He’s very fast. Speed, we could use that speed in the receiving room. Especially in the slot. And he’s very versatile," said wide-receiver teammate Javon Wims. While the team is dabbling in using Hardman on offense, Georgia HC Kirby Smart indicated earlier this week that the 5-foot-11, 176-pounder will continue to see the bulk of his snaps at corner. This past season, Hardman recorded six tackles in four games played. He was a four-star recruit for the 2016 cycle.

Four-star ATH Mecole Hardman Jr. signed with Georgia.

Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Alabama and Clemson were all in the mix here, but Georgia was the favorite for Hardman heading into the day and that held to form. The 5-foot-11, 176-pounder's the definition of "athlete," doing just about everything under the sun for Elbert County High School. To whit, he's a four-year starter at quarterback who rushed for 2,000 yards last season. And his best position fit with the Bulldogs might be corner. So yeah, he's an athlete.
