Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
This is a big one, as Brown is viewed by some as the top draft-eligible wideout in all the collegiate land. The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder could well end up being the first receiver off the board come April. He just wrapped a 2018 campaign in which he registered a 85-1320-6 receiving line. As for his pro profile, The Draft Network's Jon Ledyard writes that Brown possesses "[e]xcellent size, length and strength for a receiver prospect," though he also notes more critically that the Ole Miss standout has shown issues with his "overall consistency" due to an occasional lack of attention and effort. You can reasonably expect to hear Brown's name called on Day 1 of the draft. A top-10 selection is not out of the realm of possibility. Dec 4 - 1:23 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown registered four receptions for 61 yards in Thursday's 35-3 loss against Mississippi State.

The junior might have been playing in his final game in Oxford, as he is believed to possess first-round ability heading into the 2019 NFL Draft. He has not yet declared his intentions, but his size (6'1/225), power and playmaking ability might mean he follows in the footsteps of former Rebel WRs Laquon Treadwell and Mike Williams to the NFL.

It's plays like this that will get him drafted high in the upcoming NFL Draft. Brown gets one more regular season game (Mississippi State) to showcase his skills.

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown (undisclosed) picked up six receptions for 127 yards in a 38-24 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday.

Brown had to leave after picking up an injury on a 39-yard catch in the second quarter, but he was able to return, and he didn't show many -- if any -- ill effects after his return. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound wideout has gone over the century mark in three straight games, but he has just one touchdown. He'll look to continue the former and break the trend of the latter next Saturday against Vanderbilt.
Nov 10 - 3:54 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown was forced out injured during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Texas A&M.

Brown (6'1/225) was injured on a 39-yard catch. With Ole Miss already missing RB Scottie Phillips -- who exited with a possible ankle injury in the first quarter -- the offense would be handicapped all the more if star receiver Brown is unable to reenter the game. We will keep a close eye on this one and pass along updates as warranted.
Nov 10 - 1:06 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown brought in six receptions for 115 yards on Saturday in a 48-44 loss to South Carolina on Saturday.

Brown (6'1/225) continues his strong campaign, and goes over the century mark for the second straight contest, and third of of his past four appearances. He didn't find the end zone, but he helped set up one of five rushing touchdowns for Ole Miss. Unfortunately, the Rebels defense had no answer for, well, anyone. They'll look to break the losing streak next Saturday against Auburn.
Nov 3 - 4:04 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown brought in 10 passes for 155 yards and a score in a 31-16 loss to Auburn on Saturday.

When Jordan Ta'amu targetted Brown, good things happened. Unfortunately, his only score of the game came when the Rebels were down 31-9. Still, it's the fifth score of the year for the 6-foot-1, 225-pound wideout, and he's had nine or more catches in three of his last four games. The probable first-round pick will take on South Carolina on November 3.
Oct 20 - 4:20 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown caught nine passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 70-21 win over UL-Monroe.

Brown (6'1/225) hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Ta'amu midway through the first quarter. While he's as talented a wideout as there is in the country, this was actually just his second 100-yard receiving game of the campaign. The touchdown was his first since Week 2. He'll try to keep his engine revved against Arkansas next Saturday.
Oct 6 - 7:53 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown caught nine passes for 72 scoreless yards in Saturday's 45-16 loss to LSU.

Brown (6'1/225) was doing battle against an LSU secondary featuring a couple future NFL players, including CB Greedy Williams. The junior receiver wasn't able to score, but he was able to break off for a 35-yard gain and lead the Rebels in receptions and yards. We'll call the CB/WR matchup a draw even though the Tigers got the best of Ole Miss. Brown will likely be a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft and he'll show us why against UL-Monroe next week.
Sep 30 - 1:40 AM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown is dealing with a minor ankle injury and is probable to play against LSU.

Brown also had issues with his hamstring this summer, but it wasn't a big concern then and it isn't now. Barring something unforeseen, the star wideout will be a go in one of his toughest match-ups of the season against the tough LSU secondary.
Sep 24 - 3:45 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown caught eight passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 76-41 win over Southern Illinois.

In a game full of explosive plays and over 100 total points, Brown was the leading receiver for the Rebels with multiple big plays. His first touchdown came on a 4th down play where he lined up in the slot and burned the corner, leading to a 38-yard score. His second touchdown came in a similar situation with Brown lined up in the slot, running past both the safety and corner this time, and completing the catch for a 46-yard score. Brown is an intriguing draft prospect and has a line of 15-251-3 through two games this season. His draft stock has a chance to soar if he is able to continue dominating the opposing secondary next week against No. 1 Alabama.
Sep 8 - 7:55 PM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown caught seven passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 47-27 win over Texas Tech.

Brown (6'1/225) was dealing with a minor hamstring injury in preseason camp, but looked like . his normal, awesome self in Saturday's opener. His touchdown essentially sealed the game, as the 34-yard scoring grab early in the fourth quarter pushed the Rebs back to a 17-point lead after the Red Raiders had pulled to within 10 by the end of Q3. Brown is arguably the top draft-eligible wideout in the country. He turned in a 75-1253-11 receiving line during the 2017 season.
Sep 1 - 4:37 PM

Mississippi junior WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) returned to practice.

Brown has been battling a hamstring injury for the better part of this camp, so it is great to see Brown back at practice. Widely considered the top NFL prospect for 2019, Brown (6'1/225) can play outside with his physicality, but was also productive from the slot -- he finished with 432 yards while lined up in the slot. Ole Miss and A.J. Brown open the season on the road against Texas Tech.
Aug 21 - 7:50 PM

Pro Football Focus ranks Mississippi junior WR A.J. Brown as the top wideout in the 2019 draft class.

Brown takes the top spot over Buffalo's Anthony Johnson, with Oklahoma's Marquise Brown, South Carolina's Deebo Samuel and Nebraska's Stanley Morgan and Arizona State's N'Keal Harry tying for the fifth spot to round out the top five. PFF notes that Brown (6'1/225) is one of the most versatile wideouts in the class, as he led the NCAA with yards from the slot in 2017 with 432 yards. They do note that he needs to improve his concentration -- something that Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline points out as well -- as he dropped seven passes in 2017. If that cleans up -- and maybe even if it doesn't -- he'll be the first player at the position picked in 2019.
Aug 17 - 7:08 PM

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes that Ole Miss junior WR AJ Brown is "prone to lapses of concentration" from time to time.

Brown (6'1/225) doesn't have too many flaws in his game -- he's viewed by many to be the rest receiver in the country -- but Pauline does float a few. In addition to the occasional lapse of concentration mentioned above, the analyst notes that the stud wideout "double catches some easy throws." These are the kinds of nitpicks you'll see during the evaluating season, but they're all relatively minor criticisms. To whit, even with those observations listed above, Pauline still views Brown as a clear Day 1 prospect for the spring.
