BYU senior DE Corbin Kaufusi (foot) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a right foot injury.
As a result of Kaufusi's (6'9/275) injury, younger brother Devin will start at defensive end in Saturday night's game against New Mexico State. Corbin Kaufusi, a senior who also played basketball earlier in his BYU career, has accounted for 49 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 quarterback sacks this season. NFL Draft Scout's Rob Rang lists Brigham Young senior DL Corbin Kaufusi as one of the standouts from week one who improved his draft stock.

Kaufusi is a former basketball player, and one of four brothers who are currently on the Cougars roster. The 6-foot-8, 275-pound defender had seven tackles against Arizona, and two of them were for loss against the fast Arizona roster. "The imposing and highly athletic Kaufusi rewarded scouts who stayed up late Saturday night, showing rare straight-line speed for a man of his size," Rang writes. This is a loaded defensive line class -- as Rang notes -- but Kaufusi is certainly a name to keep an eye on going forward. With that size, it won't be hard to find him.

Corbin Kaufusi, a 6-foot-10 BYU basketball player, joined the football team.

Kaufusi, the brother of Bronson Kaufusi, signed with the Cougars a few years back as a 6-foot-8 offensive lineman. He left for a Mormon mission and ended up growing two inches on his sabbatical. When he returned to school, Corbin Kaufusi joined the basketball team. Now, he wants to play his original love. "It’s always been a dream of mine to play football at BYU," Kaufusi said in a statement. "I’m really excited about what is happening with football. I’m looking forward to being coached by my dad and learning from him and my teammates. I’m grateful for the support of the basketball coaches as I pursue this opportunity." Kaufusi will join BYU’s defensive line, which is trying to replace older brother Bronson.
