Clemson redshirt senior LB Kendall Joseph (groin) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Georgia Tech.
Joseph (6'0/230) sustained a groin injury during practice this week. It's significant enough that he is not traveling with the team for Saturday's showdown with the Yellow Jackets. The redshirt senior linebacker had started all three of Clemson's previous contests, recording 11 tackles, a sack and a pass breakup in that space. With Joseph at least temporarily down for the count, it could mean additional opportunity for J.D. Davis and Shaq Smith. Sep 21 - 12:22 PM

ESPN's Adam Rittenberg tabbed Clemson redshirt senior LB Kendall Joseph as the team's most underrated player.

"Largely overshadowed by Clemson's defensive line and even fellow linebackers like Dorian O'Daniel last year, Joseph has been a steady presence for the Tigers," Rittenberg writes. The 6-foot, 230-pounder was toying around with a declaration for this spring's draft before ultimately deciding to return to school to try to chip in for another title push. He earned third-team All-ACC plaudits for the past campaign, having registered 96 tackles (5.0 for loss), an interception and two forced fumbles on the year.

Clemson redshirt junior LB Kendall Joseph is returning to school for his senior season and will forego entry into the NFL Draft.

Joseph (6'0/230) recorded 96 tackles for the Clemson defense with five tackles for loss. Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst ranked him as a 3rd-to-4th round pick for the 2018 draft, so he'll return to school in hopes of helping the Tigers play for a championship, and in the process improving his draft stock. The Tigers' defense is going to be loaded in 2018.

An NFL scout who spoke with Walter Football's Charlie Campbell said that Clemson redshirt junior LB Kendall Joseph is "[m]ore of Day 2 [to] early Day 3 [guy]."

The scout notes that Joseph (6'0/230) is a "good" player, but "not a complete guy" and has a tendency to try to run around blocks rather than engage them. He cast him in a similar light to Ohio State LB Jerome Baker, noting that the two players are "good, solid instinctive guys," but also that those kinds of player a "dime a dozen" in the NFL. This past season, Joseph recorded 106 tackles (11.5 TFL), 3.5 sacks and one interception while playing in all 15 of Clemson's games on the way to the National Championship.

Clemson redshirt sophomore LB Kendall Joseph recorded seven tackles for the Orange team during the program's spring game.

Joseph underwent knee surgery last August and accumulated little statistical production in 2015, but the 6-foot, 230-pounder looks primed for a sharp 2016 campaign if he can stay on the field, particularly with B.J. Goodson heading to the Giants in the fourth round of April's draft. ESPN rated Joseph as the No. 18 inside linebacker recruit for the 2014 cycle.
