Notre Dame now lists redshirt freshman Jafar Armstrong as RB/WR.
Armstrong (6'3/214) redshirted last year after the Irish signed him as a three-star prospect out of the Kansas City suburbs. He came in as a receiver. The Irish need RB depth so desperately that it makes sense that they'd give him a look in the backfield. Mar 5 - 2:19 PM

Notre Dame signed three-star 2017 WR Jafar Armstrong.

Nice work by HC Brian Kelly and company, as the Irish managed to pry Armstrong away from a Missouri commitment which had stood since June. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder holds the Kansas state record for high school receiving touchdowns with 45. He ranks as Rivals' No. 77 wide receiver in the 2017 cycle.

Three-star 2017 WR Jafar Armstrong indicated that he is receiving heavy interest from both the Big Ten and Big 12.

"Northwestern came to one of my morning sessions and I did very well. They seemed very impressed," Armstrong said. "Kansas State has shown a lot of interest and in the past few weeks I have gotten a few cool edits from them. Iowa, I have gotten mail and been talking to the coaches a lot." The 6-foot-1, 185-pound wideout noted that he has "clicked" with the coaching staffs of those three teams. This summer, Armstrong -- Rivals No. 82 WR prospect for 2017 -- will be taking part in camps at both Iowa and Kansas State, as well as Oklahoma State. Michigan's satellite camp at Blue Springs High School (in Missouri) could also be in the cards for the Kansas native.

Rivals recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy highlighted three-star 2017 WR Jafar Armstrong's work at a Rivals Camp Series regional event in Kansas City.

"Armstrong created separation all afternoon and shined brightly in one-on-one work. He showed strong hands and the ability to run crisp routes," Cassidy wrote. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder wasn't quite able to earn receiving MVP honors at the RCS event, but per Cassidy, he was "in the running" for it up until the end. Armstrong has received offers from Wyoming, Northern Illinois, Illinois and New Mexico. Rivals ranks the three-star recruit as the No. 82 wideout prospect in the country.
