Ohio State HC Urban Meyer said that redshirt senior LB Dante Booker (shoulders) will be "ready to roll" for August camp.
Booker (6'3/233) underwent two shoulder surgeries this offseason and sat out the spring while rehabbing from those procedures. He'll be one to keep an eye on during August camp. Injuries have been a consistent issue during his playing career in Columbus. This past season, Booker recorded 31 tackles (5.0 for loss) and two sacks in nine games during the past campaign. Ohio State junior LB Dante Booker (knee) has been medically cleared to play.

While Booker has been cleared medically, OSU HC Urban Meyer indicated on Tuesday that the 6-foot-3, 233-pound junior is not yet back to 100%. He initially sprained his MCL in the season-opener against Bowling Green. His playing status for Saturday's game against Nebraska has not yet been determined.

Ohio State HC Urban Meyer indicated that junior LB Dante Booker (knee) is "close to ready."

Booker last took the field against Bowling Green in the season-opener. He injured his knee in that contest, with Meyer later deeming it to be a sprained MCL. While there has been no need for surgery, here, the injury has prevented the 6-foot-3, 233-pounder from retaking the field. It is not yet known whether Booker will be able to play against Northwestern on Saturday. Meyer said he does not want to push him into action until he is ready.

Thu, Oct 27, 2016 01:39:00 PM's Doug Lesmerises wonders if Ohio State junior LB Dante Booker can be the next James Laurinaitis.

Lesmerises premise is a bit contrived. The question he is attempting to answer is this: Will the linebacker transition this year be as smooth as it was in 2006, when Laurinaitis helped replace the departing A.J. Hawk, Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Schlegel? The Buckeyes must replace Joshua Perry and Darron Lee this fall. Booker, Ohio's Mr. Football in 2014 and ranked as the No. 54 recruit in his class, was a special teamer as a freshman and a backup to Perry last year. Expect Booker to open up in Perry's old gig at weak-side linebacker.
