Georgia redshirt junior S J.R. Reed is with the team for Saturday's game against Missouri.

Reed wasn’t spotted at practice on Wednesday. Reed's status is important with the Bulldogs in for an afternoon date with Missouri’s high-octane passing attack and Drew Lock. He had the second-most tackles on the team last year behind some guy named Roquan Smith.

ESPN's Alex Scarborough pegged Georgia redshirt junior S J.R. Reed as the most underrated prospect on the team.

Reed (6'2/175) could have jumped for the NFL Draft over the winter, but instead opted to run it back in Athens. He logged 79 tackles (5.0 for loss), 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and five passes defensed last season. The Bulldogs are well-stocked in the secondary with the likes of Reed in the fold. When it comes to the UGA defense, we're most intrigued to see what their linebacking corps looks like after losing multiple pieces -- Roquan Smith notable among them -- from that unit.

Georgia redshirt sophomore S J.R. Reed will return to school for the 2018 season.

Reed (6'2/175) transferred over to Georgia from Tulsa during the 2016 offseason. After sitting out that season to satisfy NCAA transfer regulations, the former three-star recruit came out in strong fashion for the Bulldogs this year, registering 69 tackles (5.0 for loss), 1.5 sacks and a pair of interceptions during the regular season. Those 69 tackles are second-most on the team and he has been a starter for the entirety of the campaign.

Tulsa sophomore S J.R. Reed transferred to Georgia.

A three-star prospect out of high school, Reed signed with Tulsa as part of the 2015 recruiting class. He appeared in 13 games last season and recorded five tackles with one pass defended. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after he sits out the 2016 campaign due to the NCAA's pesky transfer regulations.
