The Draft Network's Kyle Crabbs called Nebraska RB Devine Ozigbo the best prospect he saw during East-West Shrine Game practices this week.
Crabbs notes that Ozigbo showed up measuring in at 219 pounds, a sharp shave off his listed 2018 weight of 230 pounds (Crabbs hears he was playing around 222 pounds during the season). Wrote the analyst, "Ozigbo carries his weight extremely well and showcases a thick lower half, which allows him to generate power in the pile and at first contact." He relays that after a quiet start in St. Petersburg, Ozigbo has showcased "burst, cuts and receiving chops" during the practice week. The Draft Network views him as the eighth-best running back prospect for the spring. Jan 17 - 4:55 PM

The Draft Network's Joe Marino writes that Nebraska RB Devine Ozigbo impressed during practice on Wednesday ahead of the East-West Shrine Game.

As Marino notes, events like this aren't necessarily made for prospects like Ozigbo (6'0/235) who are more likely to run through tackles than breaking ankles. Even still, the former Cornhusker has impressed in practices. "Ozigbo is an extremely smooth mover with good feet and body control as a runner," writes Marino. "He catches the ball cleanly and even won on a wheel route down the field in team drills today." Someone looking for a third-down back that can move the chains as a short-yardage back will do well to look Ozigbo's way.

Nebraska senior RB Devine Ozigbo accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.

Ozigbo (6'0/235) had easily his best year with the Cornhuskers in 2018; rushing for 12 touchdowns and 1,082 yards. He also caught 22 passes, showing that he can make plays in the receiving game as well. While not the speediest back, Ozigbo certainly can make tacklers miss with his power, and if he shows he can be a quality blocker during the event, it will certainly help solidify him as a late-round prospect.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo rushed for 74 yards on 18 carries in Saturday's 9-6 win over Michigan State.

Ozigbo (6'0/235) led the Huskers in rushing in this barnburner. All three of Nebraska's field goals came in the fourth quarter. A win is a win is a win, as they say. Ozigbo and company will face off with Iowa on Black Friday to close out the regular season.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries in Saturday's 54-35 win over Illinois.

Ozigbo (6'0/235) bolted for a 66-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a little four-yarder in the third quarter before capping off his huge day's effort via a 60-yard bolt down the right sideline midway through the fourth quarter. That final touchdown run was actually a key one, as Illinois was still showing slight signs of life at the time he put the dagger into their heart. For the campaign, the junior has now rushed for 958 yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 games. He will look to push over 1,000 yards against Michigan State next Saturday.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigo rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in Saturday's 36-31 loss to Ohio State.

Ozigbo (6'0/235) opened the game's scoring via a one-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter to set the tone for Nebraska. The Huskers played the Buckeyes tough, here, taking a 21-16 lead into halftime before OSU started to get its act together in the second half. For the campaign, Ozigbo has now rushed for 796 yards and nine touchdowns. He has a solid shot at 1,000 yards rushing by season's end and should be able to put up strong numbers against Illinois next weekend. Nebraska's final two contests -- against Michigan State and Iowa -- figure to prove significantly more difficult than that date with the Illini.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries in Saturday's 45-9 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

Ozigbo continues to be electric as he has now surpassed 100 yards in four of his last five games and has eight touchdowns on the season. He opened up the scoring in this game with a 14-yard touchdown. He will have a much tougher time producing next week against Ohio State.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in Saturday's 53-28 victory over Minnesota.

He also had three catches for 25 yards. Ozigbo (6'0/235) has now rushed for at least 150/2 in two of his last three games. His emergence convinced heralded JUCO import Greg Bell to skip town.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in Saturday's 34-31 overtime loss to Northwestern.

Ozigbo (6'0/235) notched a 12-yard touchdown run just before halftime, then came back out to score on a short run midway through the third quarter. Nebraska very much looked like they had this one in hand for much of the second half -- they held a 28-14 lead early in the fourth quarter -- but bled away their advantage down the stretch. Setting aside the brutal final result for the Huskers, Ozigbo has now turned in efforts of 155-plus rushing yards in two of his last three games. He'll look to keep up his recent hot ways in a home date with Minnesota next weekend.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo is listed as the starting running back on the updated depth chart ahead of this weekend's Wisconsin game.

There is no "OR" separating his name from Greg Bell's. Ozigbo shoved Bell aside by rushing for a career-high 170 yards and two scores on 17 carries in Saturday's 42-28 loss to Purdue. Bell, the nation's No. 1 JUCO RB, is now listed as co-RB2 with Maurice Washington.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo ran for 170 yards and two scores on 17 carries in Saturday's 42-28 loss to Purdue.

The 170 yards were a career high. Meanwhile, Greg Bell, the nation's No. 1 JUCO RB, had only two carries. It would appear as though Ozigbo has hopped him in the pecking order. Ozigbo won't have as much room to breath next week against Wisconsin.
Sat, Sep 29, 2018 07:39:00 PM

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo plays 33 snaps to junior RB Greg Bell's 34 against Colorado.

Bell was on 15 pass plays with Ozigbo seeing 12 passing snaps. When the Huskers opted to run, Bell was on the field 15 times to Ozigbo's 14. That is what you call a committee backfield, but this shouldn't be surprising with both being listed as co-starters to start the season. Under Scott Frost, this is an offense that could be pretty good -- especially if QB Adrian Martinez is healthy after being helped off by trainers.

Nebraska junior RB Devine Ozigbo is listed as a co-starter at running back for Saturday's game against Akron.

Ozigbo is listed as the co-starter with junior tailback Greg Bell. With presumed starter Tre Bryant forced into retirement due to knee injuries, this is expected to be a committee approach, with freshman Maurice Washington and potentially Miles Jones expected to get carries for Nebraska. Ozigbo has shown potential in his time with Nebraska, but has also battled injuries. This will be a situation to monitor, as there's a chance one of the four could become the bellcow with a strong start to the season.

Nebraska sophomore RB Devine Ozigbo (ankle) is hopeful to play on Friday against Iowa.

Ozigbo sprained his ankle on Saturday, but it sounds like it wasn't a significant sprain and he could be able to go in the season finale against the Hawkeyes. If the sophomore tailback can't play, it could mean a big touch total on Friday for starter Mikale Wilbon.
Mon, Nov 20, 2017 06:33:00 PM

Nebraska sophomore RB Devine Ozigbo ran for 112 yards on 23 carries in a 38-17 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday.

Ozibgo was the bellcow for the Cornhuskers, as Tre Bryant (knee) and Mikale Wilbon (knee) were unavailable for Nebraska. Even in a losing effort, the sophomore tailback had a solid day, and the only thing that was missing was a trip into the end zone. He'll look to rectify that next week -- assuming Wilbon is out -- when they host Ohio State.
