The Draft Network's Kyle Crabbs believes that Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead has "intriguing" inside zone rusher skills for the NFL.
Crabbs notes the 5-foot-11, 215-pound tailback also has excellent feet, calling them the best trait for Armstead. He also mentions that he does a good job of staying on balance, and he can run through defenders with his power. The issue in Crabbs' eyes -- and many other analysts -- is that he isn't a productive catcher of the football, and he hasn't shown up as a pass protection guy, either. That makes him a two-down running back, but potentially a pretty good one. Fri, Dec 28, 2018 03:16:00 PM

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead is out for the bowl game.

Armstead (5'11/215) has rushed for 1,098 yards (5.2 YPC) and 13 touchdowns across 10 games, so there's a lot of production being left behind for the Owls. The senior running back is considered a fringe Day 3 prospect, but his stock can rise in the Reese's Senior Bowl. Temple will also be without CB Rock Ya-Sin against Duke.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Armstead (5'11/215) was one of the more disappointing players on the college football landscape a year ago, but bounced back in emphatic fashion for his final season of ball, rushing for 1,098 yards (5.2 YPC) and 13 touchdowns across 10 games played. A fringe Day 3 type of player, Armstead could use a strong Senior Bowl to get his process off to a nice start.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead is on the sideline sporting a jacket and sneakers after sustaining an undisclosed injury concern in the first half of Saturday's game against UConn.

Armstead was injured after ripping off a big run. With Temple cruising -- up 54-7 midway through the fourth quarter -- and the senior no longer equipped in dress for football, he is almost certainly done for the day. Temple figures to pass along an update on his health in due time.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead ran for 64 yards and a score on 26 carries in a 27-17 victory over South Florida on Saturday.

It was the defense and special teams that beat the Bulls on Saturday rather than Armstead; as they scored two touchdowns on a punt return and fumble recovery in the fourth quarter to give them the victory. Armstead was able to find the end zone, however, and it gives the senior 13 touchdowns on the season. Six of those scores came last week, it's worth pointing out. Temple closes the regular season next Saturday against UConn.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead was named the Walter Camp Player of the Week for his performance against Houston.

Armstead (5'11/215) rushed for six touchdowns and 210 yards on 30 carries to lead the Owls to a huge win over D'Eriq King and the Houston Cougars, 59-49. There was no stopping the senior back, who doubled his season rushing touchdown total in the game. According to College Sports Reference's database, this was just the 17th time a player rushed for at least six touchdowns in a game.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead rushed for 210 yards and six touchdowns on 30 carries in Saturday's 59-49 win over Houston.

Armstead (5'11/215) exactly doubled his season touchdown total today. Yupp. He went from six to 12 rushing touchdowns in 60 minutes of action. Armstead became the 17th college athlete to rush for at least six rushing touchdowns in a game, according to College Sports Reference's database. To make the performance even crazier, the senior back left last week's contest on a cart due to an ankle injury, so it was quite the turnaround to get back that quickly. It's a game that Armstead and his teammates won't forget, but they have a game against USF to prepare for next week.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) rushed for 142 yards on 27 carries in Thursday's 52-40 loss to UCF.

Armstead (5'11/215) had missed his previous two games due to an ankle injury. There were several spots in this contest where he was clearly feeling it on the hoof, which UCF exasperated through the occasional somewhat-dubious play in which defenders appeared to be purposely targeting the ankle. The senior back fought his way through all of the attrition to finish with his second-highest yardage total of the campaign. Unfortunately, he ended the contest sitting on a cart without his shoe on, and his status moving forward would once again appear to be up in the air. Armstead has now topped 100 yards rushing in five of the seven games in which he has played this season. Temple will have an extra day of rest before they next play, against Houston on Nov. 10, and we figure to have a better idea as to Armstead's status upcoming once we are into the next practice week.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) is suited up and look likely to play in Thursday's game against UCF.

Awesome news for Temple. If they're going to pull off an upset on the undefeated Knights, they'll need Armstead giving everything he's got on Thursday evening. The senior has not played in either of Temple's last two games, but had rushed for a robust 626 yards (5.1 YPC) and six touchdowns prior to tweaking his ankle. We'll pass along word if Temple ends up scratching Armstead late, but at this juncture, it looks like he'll be ready to rock and/or roll come kickoff.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's game against UCF.

Armstead has not played in the previous two weeks because of the ankle injury. When the senior tailback has played, he has been outstanding with 626 yards rushing, six touchdowns and 5.1 YPC for the Owls. It would be a big return for the Owls, who are 4-0 in conference play and looking to hand UCF their first loss of the 2018 season.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) is unlikely to play in Saturday's game against Cincinnati.

Armstead was walking around in sweatpants in the pregame as his teammates warmed up in uniform. If Armstead is indeed ruled out, Jager Gardner and Tyliek Raynor should divvy carries.

Following Monday's practice, Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) said that he'll be "ready to go" for Saturday's showdown with undefeated Cincinnati.

Owls HC Geoff Collins also weighed in on Armstead's status on Monday, saying that the senior is "[s]till getting better every single day" before adding that the 5-foot-11, 215-pounder is "a lot better than he was when we went down to Annapolis." Armstead did not ultimately dress for Saturday's game against Navy. We'll keep an eye on his status over the remainder of the practice week, but at least at this juncture, signs are pointing up for his availability versus the Bearcats.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) is not warming up ahead of Saturday's game versus Navy.

Armstead exited the bus on Saturday morning at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium wearing a walking boot on his left foot. He briefly took it off, but as pregame warmups began, Armstead was in street clothes watching his teammates, not participating in drills. It looks almost assured at this point that he'll miss the game.

Temple HC Geoff Collins is "optimistic" that Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) will be able to play on Saturday against Navy.

Armstead (5'11/215) picked up the ankle injury on Saturday against East Carolina. Collins calls the tailback day-to-day, but it sounds like as long as there's no setback he's going to be able to go against the Midshipmen. If he can't go, Jager Gardner would likely operate as the starter for the Owls.
Wed, Oct 10, 2018 11:19:00 AM

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in Saturday's 49-6 win over East Carolina.

This was Armstead's lowest rushing output in the past five games which speaks more to his success than this week's output. He now has 626 rushing yards and six touchdowns through six games this year. His touchdown in this one was a one-yard plunge early in the second quarter. He will look to continue his success next week against Navy.
