Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs wrote on social media that he played through a broken ankle sustained in Week 5 of the 2017 season.
Jacobs (5'10/204) is undergoing surgery on Friday. If the sophomore's tweet is accurate on the timing front, he initially sustained the ankle break in a win over Ole Miss on September 30. He would go on to play on the bum leg through to the end of the 2017 campaign. Jacobs rushed for 284 yards (6.2 YPC) and a touchdown on the season. His availability for spring practice should become more clear as he's further removed from the initial surgery. Jan 12 - 12:51 PM

Alabama HC Nick Saban said that sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (ankle) is "fine."

Saban went so far as to tell reporters that Jacobs will "play, no question" against LSU on Saturday. He's been on the mend from a minor ankle issue suffered against Tennessee prior to Alabama's bye week at the end of October.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs returned to practice on Monday in advance of Saturday's game against LSU.

Alabama was on bye last week, but it sounds like Jacobs wouldn't have been able to play if they had returned. With Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough ahead of him on the depth chart his touches are limited as is, and Alabama will have no reason to rush the running back into action.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs is dealing with a minor ankle injury.

Jacobs exited Saturday's route of Tennessee with the injury. "He probably will be in a boot for a few days, but he should be OK," said Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban. With the Crimson Tide on bye until their showdown with rival LSU on November 4, Jacobs should be ready to roll, assuming there are no setbacks.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs sustained an undisclosed injury in the third quarter of Saturday's win over Tennessee.

No word as of yet as to the extent of Jacobs' injury, but it did force him to the locker room. Alabama is generally pretty good about offering updates on the health front and more information figures to be available before the weekend is out.

Alabama HC Nick Saban said that "[w]e need to get Josh Jacobs involved more."

Jacobs (5'10/204) isn't the only player who Saban would like to see more thoroughly integrated into the offense, saying, "(Freshman RB) Najee Harris is a pretty good player and we need to get him more involved." This season, the Tide offense has almost entirely consisted of the production of QB Jalen Hurts, WR Calvin Ridley and RBs Damien Harris and (to lesser degree) Bo Scarbrough. Saban believes that increased work for Jacobs, Harris and freshman wideouts Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and Devonta Smith during the season will only aid the team in their presumed postseason run.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban said he wants to get sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs more involved.

He said the same about Najee Harris. Jacobs has just seven carries and two catches for a combined 121 yards. The Crimson Tide are in a difficult spot with four talented running backs as well as a quarterback who can pick up yards on the ground on a consistent basis. The school faces Arkansas and Tennessee over the next few weeks.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) is in uniform and went through warm ups before Saturday's game against Colorado State.

Jacobs (5'10/204) has yet to play in 2017. He ran for 564 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman for the Crimson Tide last year. If he can go, he likely sees carries behind Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (Hamstring) went through individual drills on Monday.

Jacobs (5'10/204) went through a few practices last week, but didn't play on Saturday against Fresno State. The talented sophomore rushed for 564 yards and four touchdowns last year for the Crimson Tide. If he can go against Colorado State, he'll likely get carries behind Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris.

Alabama HC Nick Saban indicated that sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) is questionable for Saturday's matchup against Fresno State.

"He has practiced some this week," HC Nick Saban said. "I can't sit here and tell you he'll be game-ready this week." We'd assume Alabama will use the cupcake matchup to rest Jacobs. Expect the Tide to lean on Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris, with five-star frosh Najee Harris perhaps getting an extended look in the second half.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) was practicing in full pads on Tuesday.

Jacobs looks to be just about healed up from a troublesome hamstring injury which sidelined him for much of August camp. His status for the Crimson Tide's game against Fresno State on Saturday has not yet been solidified, but don't be surprised to see him out there. Jacobs (5'10/204) rushed for 567 yards (6.7 YPC) and four touchdowns as a true freshman last season.

Alabama HC Nick Saban would not commit to sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) playing against Fresno State on Saturday.

Jacobs sat out Saturday's win over Florida State due to a pesky hamstring injury suffered in August camp. While Saban said that the sophomore might be able to practice this week, a decision as to his playing-status against the Bulldogs won't be determined until closer to kickoff.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) is not playing against Florida State on Saturday.

Jacobs did not dress for the game due to a hamstring injury which limited him for much of preseason camp. There is no current timetable for his return to action, but the Tide will be fine at running back in the interim given their loaded stable.

Alabama HC Nick Saban indicated that the playing status of sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) won't be determined until the middle of the week.

Jacobs has been fighting through a hamstring pull for the past two weeks. Saban said that he is "still rehabbing." If the 5-foot-10, 204-pounder is unable to play against Florida State on Saturday, it doesn't figure to be a huge blow for the Tide. While he showed plenty of upside as a true freshman last season in rushing for 567 yards (6.7 YPC) and four touchdowns, Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris and Najee Harris are all expected to be healthy and available in the contest. Alabama houses perhaps the deepest running backs rotation in the country.

Alabama sophomore RB Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) was a limited participant in Friday's practice.

Jacobs continues to struggle with a hamstring injury initially suffered in mid-August. At this juncture, his availability for Alabama's season-opener against Florida State should be considered a dodgy proposition. Said HC Nick Saban, "We’re going to be cautious in how we progress him moving forward."
