Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Smith (6'4/220) was not impervious to the failings of Louisville in 2018, as the 2-10 Cardinals struggled to move the football. After posting a 60/980/7 line, his numbers fell to 36/550/1. With his size and red-zone skills, he'll definitely players keep an eye on, and it should help Smith that he gets to play with legitimate quarterbacks in Mobile. Mon, Dec 3, 2018 07:38:00 PM

Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith caught eight passes for 107 yards in a 56-35 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday.

Smith and freshman wideout Tutu Atwell both had eight catches in this one, and both went over the century mark. They could have had 300 yards a piece and it wouldn't have mattered because their defense is so bad, but it's a nice game for the talented senior. It's the second time in four games that the 6-foot-4, 223-pound wideout has gone over a hundred yards, but he still has just the one touchdown. He'll try and keep the good run going against Clemson next Saturday.

Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith caught five passes for 100 yards in Saturday's 28-24 loss to Florida State.

Smith (6'4/223) should have had a sharper game, but Jawon Pass sailed a few on him to leave the senior stranded at 100 yards even on the afternoon. He had not even topped 40 yards receiving prior to Saturday's contest. Louisville's passing game this season has been uneven, to be kind. Smith will try to make it two straight 100-yard games when the Cardinals take on Georgia Tech next weekend.

Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith is listed as a starter for Saturday's game against Alabama.

Smith had an emergency appendectomy on August 3, but he was able to return to practice last week, and it appears he'll get the start on Saturday against the Crimson Tide on Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound wideout had seven touchdowns and 980 yards receiving, and even with Lamar Jackson gone, he should be in for another big year in the Louisville offense in 2018.

Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith returned to practice.

Smith had an emergency appendectomy earlier this month but has made a recovery. Smith said he was "winded at first" but made a promise to be in game shape by next week. It sounds like he will be ready for the season opener. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound receiver finished with 980 yards and seven touchdowns last year. Smith will once again be a major focal point in Petrino's offense.

Louisville senior WR Jaylen Smith has emergency appendectomy Friday morning.

The All-ACC wide receiver will be out for an undetermined amount of time after the scare. HC Bobby Petrino said, "Jaylen is doing well and we look forward to him returning to the practice field as soon as possible." Smith and new starting quarterback Jawon Pass will now be missing valuable time building chemistry before the upcoming season as Smith recovers from his emergency surgery. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound receiver finished with 980 yards and seven touchdowns last season and will be a major component of Louisville’s offense once again in 2018, at least once he's able to make it back to the field. The Cardinals possess quite a bit of intriguing receiving talent even beyond Smith (notably Dez Fitzpatrick and Seth Dawkins) and have options to lean on should his appendectomy recovery stretch past the start of the regular season.

Louisville Head Coach Bobby Petrino said senior WR Jaylen Smith is "back in active workouts."

Petrino also mentioned Smith "still has a way to go in terms of atrophy in his arm...but it’s good to see him back." Coming off a 60-980-7 season, Smith is trying to continue his ascension despite losing one of the premier collegiate quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson to the NFL. Smith will look to build rapport with Redshirt sophomore Jawon Pass who will take the reigns at quarterback for the Cardinals in 2018.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith will return to school for the 2018 season.

Smith (6'4/219) has had the luxury of sharing the field with the nation's most electric athlete in Lamar Jackson. The big-play threat will be facing a new set of hurdles with Jackson off to the NFL. We like him to keep up his success even sans L-Jax, though. The junior wideout has improved consistently over his three years in the program and posted a 60-980-7 receiving line for the past campaign.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith posted seven receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-27 loss against Mississippi State in the Taxslayer Bowl.

It was his first 100-yard game since mid-October against Boston College, although he finishes the season with at least one touchdown in four consecutive outings. He fell just short for 1,000 yards on the season, posting 980 yards with seven scores. A wrist injury kept him from playing in three outings or he really would have had a monster season. The 6-foot-4, 219-pounder will have a decision to make in the offseason. He'll either need to adjust to life without WR Lamar Jackson in 2018 for his senior campaign, or take his chances declaring for the NFL Draft.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith caught six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 44-17 win over Kentucky.

Smith scored from 14 yards out early in the fourth quarter, giving Louisville a daunting 44-10 advantage in the process. The 6-foot-4, 219-pound junior wraps the regular season the owner of a 53-873-6 receiving line. He may well have topped 1,000 yards had it not been for a wrist injury which limited him midway through the campaign.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith went for 95 yards and a touchdown on three catches in a 56-10 drubbing of Syracuse on Saturday.

Smith (6'4/219) has now scored three touchdowns in his last two games. His touchdown on Saturday was a 72-yarder from Lamar Jackson that gave the Cardinals a 28-3 lead in the second quarter. Smith and the Cardinals finish their regular season next week against Kentucky.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith racked up five receptions for 84 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 38-21 win against Virginia.

Lamar Jackson's favorite target was back in the end zone for the first time in four games since returning from a wrist injury. He has managed at least five receptions in each of his seven games so far this season. He'll look to keep up the good work next week in a potential shootout with Syracuse.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith (wrist) returned Saturday against Boston College.

Smith injured his wrist in last Thursday's loss to NC State and had been labeled "day-to-day." With all the injuries Louisville has suffered to its skill talent this year, the Cardinals are thrilled to have their No. 1 receiver active today.

Louisville HC Bobby Petrino deemed junior WR Jaylen Smith (wrist) to be "day-to-day."

Smith injured his wrist in last Thursday's loss to NC State. His status for this weekend's showdown with Boston College has not yet been announced. Expect an update closer to the 12:20 EST kickoff on Saturday.

Louisville junior WR Jaylen Smith (wrist) has a chance to return to practice, according to HC Bobby Petrino.

Smith (6'4/220) was forced to sit out against North Carolina State on Thursday, and while Dez Fitzpatrick was excellent as the top option, it was clear that his absence hurt the Cardinal offense. Even if he practices he's no guarantee to play, but it'd be a great sign for the talented junior's chance of competing.
