Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Barnes (6'1/225) steps into the draft light on the heels of a career-best season in which he rushed for 1,355 yards (5.3 YPC) and 12 touchdowns. Brad Kelly of The Draft Network notes that the Kansas State product "has NFL-level athletic ability" and has the vision to take advantage of holes, though the analyst notes that he can sometimes tend to dance a little too much in the backfield. Walter Football's Charlie Campbell sees Barnes going off the board somewhere between Rounds 3 and 5. Fri, Dec 14, 2018 02:46:00 PM

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes toted the ball 28 times for 184 yards and a touchdown in a 42-38 loss to Iowa State on Saturday.

A tremendous game for Barnes (6'1/225) and a tremendous season for the junior tailback. Kansas State won't be going bowling, but it has nothing to do with Barnes. The 184 yards give him over 1,300 on the year, and he's now scored a dozen touchdowns for the Wildcats. Barnes is considered a bit of a plodder in the scouting circles, but his production is tough to argue. He should be among the best tailbacks in the Big 12 next year, assuming he doesn't enter the draft.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes racked up 32 carries for 136 yards in Saturday's 21-6 win against Texas Tech.

In a game that didn't feature a lot of offense, Barnes really put on a show and was by far the biggest impact player. It has become a habit, as he has three straight 100-yard games, and he has hit triple digits in yardage in five of the past six outings. The only surprising part of his stat line was that he failed to find the end zone, something he has done 11 times in the first 11 games. He'll try and help the Wildcats to a road win and bowl eligibility next Saturday at Iowa State.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes carried the ball 22 times for 117 yards with two scores in a 21-17 victory over Kansas on Saturday.

Barnes (6'1/225) did his usual thing; running over defenders and finding the end zone for the 10th and 11th time this year, respectively. He also goes over a thousand yards for the first time in his three years with Kansas State, doing it with two games to spare. The Wildcats will have to win out to play another game, starting next Saturday against the Red Raiders of Texas Tech.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes rushed for 102 yards on 23 carries in Saturday's 14-13 loss to TCU.

Barnes (6'1/225) did not blow the doors off the joint with his statistical output, but rather turned in a workmanlike performance. With his 102 yards on Saturday, he is up to 918 for the campaign, topping the career-best 819 yards he posted a year ago. Kansas State will wrap the year with games against Kansas, Texas Tech and Iowa State.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes ran for just 28 yards on 13 carries in a 51-14 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday.

Barnes came into this game on fire, with 431 yards rushing and seven scores in his previous two games. No such luck in this one, as the Kansas State offensive line couldn't open up holes for the power back. Barnes just doesn't have the speed to run past defenders, so if the holes aren't there, the results are going to be middling. He'll try and rebound next Saturday against TCU.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Burnes scored four touchdowns and ran for 181 yards on 34 carries in a 31-12 clobbering of Oklahoma State on Saturday.

This comes a week after Barnes ran for 250 yards and three scores in the loss to Baylor. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound tailback showed off his impressive power on several runs, and showed that there's enough speed to get by all but the fleetest defenders as well. Barnes also had three catches for 51 yards, so this was an all-around solid day for what is quickly becoming one of the most productive running backs in the entire Big 12. Kansas State gets a bye next week before taking on Oklahoma on October 27.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes rushed for 250 yards and three touchdown on 22 carries in Saturday's 37-34 loss to Baylor.

His career day also included two catches for 22 yards. Barnes (6'1/225) is K-State's best offensive player, and this was obviously a banner day in his career. But we can't sugarcoat this: Baylor's run defense is atrocious. The physical, plodding Barnes didn't have much trouble consistently breaking out of the first level and into the open field. If K-State could do it over again, they'd probably re-write the gameplan to double his carries.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in Saturday's 19-14 loss to Texas.

Barnes (6'1/225) proved to be K-State's best offensive weapon on the afternoon, with his one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter drawing the Wildcats to within five points on the scoreboard. Neither team would score again from that point onward. This was the junior running back's best game since he put up 103 yards against South Dakota in the season-opener. He'll try for another respectable showing against Baylor next Saturday.
Sat, Sep 29, 2018 07:02:00 PM

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes ran 13 times for 50 yards and a score in the 41-17 victory against UTSA on Saturday.

Barnes had a workmanlike effort, averaging 3.8 yards per carry with no run longer than 10 yards. He'll continue to be the hammer, ahead of Dalvin Warmack and Justin Silmon in the Wildcats backfield. Whiles Barnes' rushing yardage total has decreased in every game this season after opening with 103 yards on Sept. 1 against South Dakota, he was able to find the end zone for the first time in three games. He'll need to be better in the conference portion of the schedule, starting next week at West Virginia, as QB Skylar Thompson cannot be counted on to do it alone.

Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes finished with 75 yards rushing on 17 carries in Saturday's 31-10 loss to Mississippi State.

Barnes (6'1/221) also had two catches for 19 yards. Meager stats, yeah -- but Barnes was easily KSU's most effective offensive player on Saturday as Mississippi State's active defense stopped the Wildcats cold.

The Athletic's Max Olson writes that Kansas State junior RB Alex Barnes can be among the best tailbacks in the Big 12.

Barnes (6'1/221) has shown flashes of brilliance in his time with the Wildcats; and he averaged 5.6 yards per carry last year while rushing for 819 yards and seven scores. He also is going to get to run behind one of the best lines in the country, with all five starters back from last year's squad. Barnes will have some competition with seniors Justin Silmon and Dalvin Warmack also inline for carries, but this should be the year Barnes breaks out.

Kansas State sophomore RB Alex Barnes ran for 117 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown in a 35-17 victory over UCLA in the Cactus Bowl on Tuesday.

As per usual, Barnes didn't get many carries, but he made the most of them. Again. Most of the damage was done on a 41-yard plunge, but he had several other solid carries for the Wildcats against the porous UCLA run defense. Barnes will likely be the lead back again for Kansas State, and hopefully, he'll get more carries on a per-game basis. He could be an All-Big 12 candidate if he does.

Kansas State sophomore RB Alex Barnes ran for 128 yards and two scores on 23 carries in Saturday's 30-20 victory over Kansas.

Barnes was his typical efficient, non-explosive self, rumbling for 128 yards with a high of only 22. With today's performance, the 6-foot-1, 221-pounder set a new career-high with 528 rushing yards to go along with five touchdowns. He has four regular season contests and perhaps a bowl game to add to those totals, beginning next week against Texas Tech.

Kansas State sophomore RB Alex Barnes ran for 108 yards on just six carries with a touchdown in a 42-35 loss to Oklahoma.

Kansas State quarterback Alex Delton had 27 of the Wildcats' 42 carries on Saturday, so Barnes didn't get much of a chance to do damage. Fortunately, he was able to break off a 75-yard score up the middle to give KSU a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. Barnes still has yet to get more than 16 carries in a game, as Kansas State continues to go with a committee approach to running the football.
