Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams rushed 11 times for 64 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 35-3 road victory against rival Ole Miss.
Williams served as the bell-cow back last weekend against Arkansas with Kylin Hill (ankle) on the shelf, but the redshirt senior took a backseat with Hill back and posting solid numbers (17-108-1). Next up for Williams and the Bulldogs will be a bowl game, likely down in Florida on New Year's Day. He rolled up 168 rushing yards and a touchdown over his past two outings, posting a healthy 6.5 yards per tote during the span. Fri, Nov 23, 2018 01:19:00 AM

Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams ran for 104 yards on 15 carries in a 52-6 crushing of Arkansas on Saturday.

With no Kylin HIll, Williams was the bell-cow on Saturday, and while the score limited his carries to just 15, he made the most of them. He had a long of 20 yards, so there were plenty of four-to-six yard carries that kept the Bulldogs on schedule against the dreadful Razorbacks. The senior will look to end his regular season on a high note on Thursday against rival Ole Miss.

Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams did not play in the first half of Saturday's game against Louisiana Tech due to an "accountability issue," head coach Joe Moorhead said.

Williams ended up totaling two runs for 42 yards and a 29-yard run in the third quarter to increase the Bulldogs' lead to 38-3. Nick Gibson, Keytaon Thompson and Kylin Hill up picked up the slack with Williams in the doghouse. Next up for the Bulldogs will be a battle against No. 1 Alabama.

Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams rushed for 28 yards on six carries in Saturday's 19-3 loss to LSU.

Williams (6'1/215) has largely taken a backseat to Kylin Hill this season. Outside of a 101-yard performance against Louisiana in mid-September, the redshirt senior has not topped 35 yards rushing in a game this year. Hill did leave Saturday's contest injured, which could open the door for a little more playing time in the short term. Williams and crew will take on Texas A&M next time out.

Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams carried the ball 11 times for 101 yards and a score in a 56-10 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Williams was not involved at all last week against Kansas State, and when we say not involved, we mean zero touches. He certainly was involved on Saturday, and outcarried Kylin Hill 11-6 in this one. The senior tailback had a long of 28 yards, and scored from three yards out in the second quarter. We'll see if Williams is involved next Saturday against Kentucky.

Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams had zero touches in Saturday's 31-10 win over Kansas State.

It may not be stunning that Williams has been hopped by sophomore sensation Kylin Hill in the pecking order -- but it was stunning to see Nick Gibson working as Hill's backup over Williams. We haven't heard anything about a potential injury to Williams. After Williams had a scant three touches in the opener, it's becoming more clear that he's simply not in Joe Moorhead's offensive plans.

ESPN's Alex Scarborough lists Mississippi State redshirt senior RB Aeris Williams as the most underrated player on the Tigers for 2018.

As Scarborough notes, most of the attention goes to Nick Fitzgerald with the Bulldogs' offense. As he also notes, it should. That being said, Williams has -- at times -- looked like a strong tailback in the SEC, and he rushed for 1,107 yards and six scores last season. There have also been moments where Williams and the MSU run game have been completely bottled up by quality defenses. "But that doesn't mean Williams should be completely overlooked," writes Scarborough, "not when he has quietly racked up 1,829 yards and 23 touchdowns the past two seasons." If the Bulldogs are going to have any chance of competing in the SEC, they need the 6-foot-1, 222-pound Williams to have a big year.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams finished with 12 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-27 victory against Louisville in the Taxslayer Bowl.

Williams piled up 1,107 rushing yards with six touchdowns in 2017, including four rushing scores over his final four performances. He is a workhorse who will look to take another step forward to wow the NFL scouts when he hits the field in 2018. Williams did take a slight step back in terms of average yards per carry, going for 4.7 yards per tote after going for 5.2 yards per carry or more in each of his first two years on campus. But he is still trending up heading into 2018, and he showed he can catch the ball out of the backfield with aplomb, too.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in the school's 28-21 win over Arkansas on Saturday.

Williams did not pick up large chunks of yards in this game as his longest run went for 11 yards, but he continued to pile into the Arkansas defense when asked to. He also caught two passes for 27 yards.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in Saturday's 31-24 loss to Alabama.

Williams (6'1/222) scored from 10 yards out near the end of the first quarter and looped back around to hit the end zone from five yards out with a little more than four minutes gone off the second quarter clock. His was the best rushing performance of the year against Alabama's bear trap of a defense. For the campaign, the redshirt junior has rushed for 873 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. Mississippi State will try to shake off this tough defeat when they tango with Arkansas next weekend. They'll finish out the regular season in a Thanksgiving showdown with Ole Miss.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams rushed for 114 yards on 24 carries in the school's 34-23 win over UMass on Saturday.

Williams and Nick Fitzgerald combined for 249 rushing yards in this game which totally made up for the Bulldogs inept passing offense. That needs to continue in order for the school to keep their four-game winning streak.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams ran for 114 yards and a score on 23 carries in Saturday's 35-10 victory over BYU.

He also had three catches for 33 yards. This was a nice bounceback showing for the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder. Williams was held to less than 75 yards combined in the last two games against Auburn and Georgia. He's run for over 100 yards in three of the team's other four contests.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams ran for 146 yards on 23 carries in a 37-7 thrashing of LSU on Saturday.

Williams didn't get in the end zone, but that's partially because quarterback Nick Fitzgerald was a touchdown vulture near the goal line. The 6-foot-1 tailback still was excellent, and had no trouble gashing the LSU defense. It looks like Williams is a lock to go over the 720 yards he accumulated in 2016, and assuming Fitzgerald doesn't steal all the touches in the red zone, he should have his fair share of scores as well.

Mississippi State redshirt junior RB Aeris Williams said, "It's going to be hard to stop me this year."

"He is very confident in what he’s doing," said RB coach Greg Knox. "He is very knowledgeable in what he is doing. He is playing with that confidence that you want a guy to play with." While readying for the coming season this spring, Williams has packed on a little weight, with the 6-foot-1 sophomore indicating that he is now around 222 pounds -- compared to the 215 he was listed at last season. He rushed for 720 yards (5.3 YPC) and four touchdowns in 2016, numbers which he will try to top as the expected starter during the coming campaign.

Mississippi State freshman RB Aeris Williams rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries in Saturday's win over Ole Miss.

Williams did not lead the Bulldogs in rushing, but that is only because QB Nick Fitzgerald stamped out Ole Miss' bowl hopes with a 258-yard rushing performance of his own. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Williams has been held under 65 yards rushing in nine of 12 games this season, but does have two huge rushing performances on his 2016 ledger. In addition to Saturday's slaying of Ole Miss, he also rushed for 140 yards and a score against Texas A&M on November 5.
