Penn State redshirt senior WR Juwan Johnson (lower body) didn't make the trip to Michigan with the team.

Johnson will now miss his second straight game after suffering an injury against Indiana on October 20th. It was originally thought to be a minor injury as he returned to practice that week but It doesn't look to be the case as Johnson continues to miss time. He will aim to return next week against Wisconsin.
Nov 3 - 3:23 PM

Penn State redshirt senior WR Juwan Johnson (lower body) was not announced as a starter prior to Saturday's game against Iowa.

Johnson (6'4/231) did take part in pregame warmups, but when Penn State's starting wideouts were announced for the game, the redshirt senior was not among them. It'll be KJ Hamler, DeAndre Thompkins and Brandon Polk to open the game. We'll see if Johnson enters after kickoff. He's nursing an injury sustained against Indiana last weekend.
Oct 27 - 3:27 PM

Penn State redshirt senior WR Juwan Johnson (lower body) participated in warmups ahead of Saturday's game against Iowa.

Johnson had to leave Penn State's October 20 win at Indiana prematurely due to a lower body injury, but he was able to return to practice on Wednesday. Going through pregame appears to be another positive sign that the redshirt senior wideout will be available for the Nittany Lions' game against Iowa. If Johnson is available that would be big for Penn State, as he's currently second on the team in both receptions and receiving yards.
Oct 27 - 2:59 PM

Penn State redshirt senior WR Juwan Johnson (lower body) was able to return to practice on Wednesday.

Johnson was forced to leave Saturday's close victory over Indiana, but The Athletic's Audrey Snyder reports that the senior wideout looks "much better" than he did at the end of that game. It's a massive game for the Nittany Lions on Saturday against Iowa, so his return would be a big boon for the offense.
Oct 24 - 7:06 PM

Penn State HC James Franklin said that redshirt senior WR Juwan Johnson (undisclosed) is "pretty confident" that he'll be able to play against Iowa on Saturday.

Franklin indicated that the Nittany Lions are feeling early optimism that Johnson will be suited up and ready to go versus the Hawkeyes on Saturday. The redshirt senior wideout was injured during Saturday's win over Indiana. If the 6-foot-4, 231-pounder cannot play this coming weekend, that could mean more playing time for Cam Sullivan-Brown, who helped fill in for Johnson against the Hoosiers.
Oct 23 - 5:25 PM

Penn State redshirt senior WR Juwan Johnson (undisclosed) was spotted on the sideline without his helmet during the second half of Saturday's game at Indiana.

While Johnson's specific health issue is unknown, the fact that he did not have his helmet is not a good sign regarding his status for the remainder of Saturday's game. Redshirt freshman WR Cam Sullivan-Brown replaced the redshirt senior in the Penn State lineup at the start of the second half.
Oct 20 - 5:55 PM

Penn State redshirt junior WR Juwan Johnson was seen in a walking boot and didn't participate in the spring game.

It's unknown why Johnson was in a walking boot but it isn't expected to have serious implications for next season or his starting position. Johnson recorded 54 receptions for 701 yards and one touchdown as a redshirt sophomore in 2017. With WR DaeSean Hamilton off to the NFL, Johnson will look to take on an even bigger role in 2018.
Apr 23 - 12:26 AM

Penn State junior WR Juwan Johnson caught seven passes for 92 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 21-19 win over Iowa.

Johnson had himself a nice overall game, but the only thing that will be remembered from this contest when it comes to the junior wideout was his final catch of the game. On that play, the 6-foot-4, 218-pounder snuck into the end zone behind two Iowa defenders and hauled in a seven-yard tracer-of-a-pass from Trace McSorley as time expired to win the game for the Nittany Lions in walk-off style. That was his first touchdown grab not only of the campaign, but of his collegiate career.

Penn State junior WR Juwan Johnson was listed as a starter in the Nittany Lion's depth chart to open the season.

Johnson (6'4/218) beat out Irvin Charles and Saaed Blacknell for the starting spot, among others. He made just two catches last year, but with his size, he should be a red-zone threat that Penn State will need for the 2017 season. Charles and Blacknell will push him for playing time, but for now, Johnson is the man.

Penn State redshirt sophomore WR Juwan Johnson won the team's Jim O'Hora Award (most improved offensive player) this spring.

"He just has taken a very mature approach, very aggressive approach, all off-season...I think we all know he has some special physical abilities, and it's all coming together for him right now," said HC James Franklin. The 6-foot-4, 218-pounder's spring has also drawn high praise from ESPN's Dan Murphy, who noted that it "might have been as promising of a step forward as any player at any position in the Big Ten." This past season, Johnson caught two passes for 70 yards -- numbers that could be in for a huge improvement during the coming campaign. The real question is just how many targets he might receive -- Penn State houses a loaded receiver corp even with Chris Godwin out the door, led by wideouts DaeSean Hamilton and Saeed Blacknall and TE Mike Gesicki.
