FAU junior RB Devin Singletary was named the Conference USA Player of the Year by Pro Football Focus.
Singletary was given the fifth best running back grade in the country after finishing the season as the nation's leader in missed tackles forced -- he broke 94 tackles on 264 attempts. Singletary was also one of three running backs to have over 1,000 rushing yards coming after contact (1,027 yards). Pro Football Focus also notes that the junior running back led the country in percentage of yards coming after contact (76.9%). If Singletary declares for the 2019 NFL Draft, he would be a Day 2 candidate with an outside shot of being a late first-round pick with a strong combine. Dec 9 - 3:15 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary ran 23 times for 88 scoreless yards in Saturday's 27-24 loss to Charlotte.

Singletary was unable to get much of anything going in this one as his longest run ended up only being 15 yards. With the team finishing at 5-7, this will be the end of his season. A down year for FAU led to the demise of Singletary's rushing output and he'll end the season with 1348 yards and 22 touchdowns on 261 carries (5.2 yards per carry). Singletary said he won't announce his decision to enter the draft or stay for another year until after the season is over, so we can expect the news shortly. He would be one of the top running backs in an underwhelming 2019 draft class.
Nov 25 - 10:32 AM

Pro Football Focus notes that FAU junior RB Devin Singletary leads all of the FBS in forcing missed tackles.

Singletary has made a whopping 89 tacklers miss in 2018, and there's still one game left. He also has a 143.4 elusive rating, which is also tops in the FBS. Singletary hasn't been quite as good as last year -- nor has Florida Atlantic, if we're being honest -- but he's still incredibly productive, and if he enters the draft he'll be one of the first running backs off the board.
Nov 21 - 4:23 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary ran 22 times for 148 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 34-15 win against Western Kentucky.

Singletary has registered 20 rushing touchdowns this season, and he has 148 or more yards in each of his past three outings. He has also hit the century mark in six of the past seven contests. He has 20 career games with at least two rushing touchdowns. He'll look to add to that number as the Owls travel to North Texas next Saturday.
Nov 10 - 9:29 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary rumbled for a season-high 184 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries in Saturday's 49-14 rout at Florida International.

The Owls have struggled with just four victories through nine games, but it's no fault of Singletary. He has piled up 18 rushing touchdowns through nine games, a slight backslide after rumbling for 1,920 rushing yards and 33 total touchdowns in 2017. The 184 yards on the ground were his most since he hung 203 yards on Marshall on Nov. 3, 2017. There's something about FBS Week 10 which gets Motor going. He'll face Western Kentucky next week. He had 244 yards and four touchdowns at WKU last season.
Nov 3 - 10:41 PM

Per Pro Football Focus, FAU junior RB Devin Singletary forced 14 missed tackles and has 146 yards after contact against Louisiana Tech last Friday.

85 percent of Singletary's (5'9/201) rushing yardage came after contact, so he's getting no help from his offensive line and coaching staff. Since he carried the ball just 17 times, Singletary nearly averaged a missed tackle every carry while averaging 7.3 yards after contact per carry. Despite doing everything himself, Singletary still has 100+ rushing yards in three-of-four games. Singletary will likely head to the NFL after this season.
Oct 28 - 1:57 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary ran 17 times for 171 yards and a score in a 21-13 loss to Louisiana Tech on Friday.

Singletary bounced back nicely from his disappointing effort against Marshall last week (39 yards, no touchdown for first time in 19 games), but it wasn't enough with the Owls' quarterback situation once again problematic. His touchdown was a seven-yard scamper with 13:19 left in the first quarter. Singletary now has gone for over 100 yards in three-of-four games, and the score is the 15th of the year. He's ridiculous, but FAU falls to a very disappointing 3-6 record. They'll take on Florida International on November 3.
Oct 26 - 10:01 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary rushed 16 times for just 39 yards in Saturday's 31-7 loss at Marshall and he was held out of the end zone for the first time in 19 games.

The last time Singletary failed to get into the end zone came in the opener on Sept. 1, 2017 against Navy, a span of 19 straight games. Motor has piled up 46 rushing scores and one more receiving touchdown over the past 20 contests, but the Thundering Herd certainly bottled him up tight in this one. Singletary and the Owls will look to get back on track on a short week against Louisiana Tech on Friday night in Boca Raton.
Oct 20 - 6:11 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary rushed 19 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 52-33 victory against Old Dominion, and he is now No. 1 in school history in rushing yardage.

Singletary passed Alfred Morris' mark of 3,529 rushing yards set in 2011. He also has 14 rushing touchdowns this season, and 58 during his career. The latter breaks a tie with former Florida QB Tim Tebow, San Diego State RB Marshall Faulk and Oklahoma's Steve Owens for 15th-place all-time. He'll look to add to his totals in two weeks when the Owls travel to meet Marshall after the team's bye.
Oct 6 - 8:56 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary rushed 34 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 25-24 loss at Middle Tennessee.

Singletary has back-to-back 100-yard performances on the road, and he has a total of 12 rushing touchdowns through the first five games. Despite his heroics the defending Conference USA champs were unable to win their league opener after going unbeaten in conference play in 2017. Singletary also had an uncharacteristic unsportsmanlike conduct call late in the second half of the game. He and the Owls will look to regroup next Saturday against upset-minded Old Dominion.
Sep 29 - 11:50 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary carried the ball 25 times for 131 yards with three scores in a 56-36 loss to UCF on Friday.

"Motor" was actually better than his numbers suggest, as his yardage was affected by a few runs where he was hit deep in the backfield to hurt his yards-per-carry. Outside of those, Singletary was outstanding, and he showed his knack of finding paydirt when he put a pair of rushing attempts home for scores and another in the fourth. That’s eight touchdowns in two weeks for the junior, and 10 overall after scoring 32 in 2017. He’s a lot of fun. We’ll see him back on the field against Middle Tennessee State on September 29.
Sep 21 - 10:29 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary rushed 19 times for 84 yards and five touchdowns in Saturday's 49-28 rout against Bethune-Cookman.

Singletary broke a Conference USA record with a touchdown in his 16th consecutive game. He also became just the second C-USA player to rack up four touchdowns in a single quarter, the first since Louisville's Frank Moreau accomplished the feat in 1997. He fell just one score short of tying the all-time conference mark of six touchdowns in a single game, held by Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Dixon. Singletary and the FAU offense will find the sledding a bit tougher on a short week when they travel to meet UCF on Friday night.
Sep 15 - 10:39 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in Saturday's 33-27 win over Air Force.

Singletary (5'9/201) has yet to get his motor in gear, putting up 69 yards against Oklahoma in the opener and following up with Saturday's modest 57 yards on the ground. His 36-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter accounted for the bulk of that action. He started out last season slow through two games, too, before ripping off 12 consecutive contests of 100 yards rushing. Patience is a virtue. Singleton's numbers should be there by the end of the campaign so long as he can maintain his health. The standout junior rushed for 1,918 yards and 32 touchdowns last fall.
Sep 8 - 6:28 PM

FAU junior RB Devin Singletary had 69 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries in Saturday's 63-14 loss to Oklahoma.

Ugly day for the Owls, and a surprisingly quiet afternoon for Motor. He finished with 3.8 ypc. But if you take out his 26-yard run, that average drops to 2.5. We thought Singletary would have a lot more success against an Oklahoma defense that was a bottom-30 S&P+ unit last year. Either way, he has a much easier matchup next time out against Air Force.
Sep 1 - 3:55 PM

NFL media's Lance Zierlein lists FAU junior RB Devin Singletary 12th among the top running backs to watch in college football in 2018.

Statistically, there was no better running back in college football last year, as Singletary ran for 32 touchdowns and 32 touchdowns. "Singletary (5-foot-9, 200 pounds, per school measurements) is a little lighter than scouts prefer when looking for primary runners, but his tape shows good toughness between the tackles," writes Zierlein. Those measurements will have scouts scrutinizing the tape perhaps more than others -- and the competition level will concern some, as well -- but Singletary has NFL talent. He's going to be fun to watch in 2018.
