Redshirt senior FB Winston Dimel is transferring from Kansas State to UTEP as a graduate.
Because he's leaving with his degree, Dimel (6'1/235) will be immediately eligible to play for the Miners in 2018. He'll get a chance to play for his father, new UTEP coach Dana Dimel. He's considered on of the best fullbacks in the country, and ranks as the top player at the position on Mel Kiper Jr's draft boards. At the very least, this makes UTEP better in the run game, and Dimel can also help as a red-zone runner -- he ran for 12 touchdowns as a sophomore -- and potentially as a receiver out of the backfield. Kansas State redshirt junior FB Winston Dimel will transfer as a graduate.

Dimel (6'1/235) is one of the top fullbacks in the country. Over the summer, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. ranked him as the No. 1 underclassman draft prospect at the position. While he scored just four touchdowns in 2017 -- a far cry from the 12 he notched back in 2016 -- Dimel was named second team All-Big 12 at the end of the campaign for his overall impact from game-to-game. Dimel said that Missouri, Texas A&M and Wisconsin were all receiving serious consideration for the transfer. UTEP -- where his father, Dana, was hired as head coach earlier this winter -- is also in play, but it looks like he might be diverging from his old man, here.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Kansas State redshirt junior FB Winston Dimel as the No. 1 underclassman draft prospect at his position.

Dimel (6'1/235) received a modest 30 carries last season and turned those totes of the rock into 92 yards rushing. Far more noticeable than that yardage total, the then-redshirt sophomore scored a whopping 12 touchdowns -- a number which ranked as second-most in the Big 12. He earned All-Big 12 First Team honors from the coaches at the end of the season.
