UNC redshirt senior TE Brandon Fritts announced his intention to transfer.
It sounds like Fritts is getting a sixth year of eligibility after missing all of the 2018 season with a knee injury, but it won't be with the Tar Heels. He made the announcement on Twitter, with the usual thanking of various coaches and fans. Fritts (6'4/249) caught 25 passes for 177 yards with four scores in 2017, and if he's healthy, he could really help someone's pass and run game, as he's a quality blocker, too. Assuming he does get the sixth year, Fritts will be able to play immediately since he'll leave with his degree. Fri, Dec 7, 2018 05:57:00 PM

North Carolina redshirt senior TE Brandon Fritts was ruled out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a severe knee injury in mid-April.

Fritts (6'4/249) sustained the injury near the end of spring practice for the Tar Heels. Just when he'll be able to return to action is very much in the air. This past season, Fritts caught 25 passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline tabbed him as a player of interest for NFL purposes last summer, noting that he "displays skill as both a pass catcher and blocker." Carl Tucker and Jake Bargas will have additional opportunities ahead of them in August camp and beyond. We'll pass along updates on Fritts' rehab as information becomes available.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline says redshirt junior TE Brandon Fritts "displays skill as both a pass catcher and blocker."

Fritts (6'4/249) was limited to nine games due to injury last year. In seven starts, he had six receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. UNC lost a ton of receiving talent this offseason, so Fritts is in line for an uptick in touches.
