San Jose State senior TE Josh Oliver accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
San Jose State was atrocious -- again with a 1-11 record in 2018, but Oliver (6'5/250) had little to do with the lack of success. He picked up 56 catches for 709 yards with four touchdowns, and was routinely the best player on the field for the Spartans. Oliver needs to show the athleticism to stretch the field, but even if he's not a seam guy, he's a solid motion tight end who could go in the first four rounds. Dec 10 - 4:28 PM

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline lists San Jose State senior TE Josh Oliver as one of his "risers" after his performance in Week 5 against Hawaii.

Oliver was a monster in the five-overtime loss, catching eight passes for 158 yards with a touchdown. As Pauline notes, he's already up to 27 receptions, and he's been pretty easily the top threat for the winless San Jose State offense. "Oliver lacks the speed to stretch the field but is very much a receiver in a tight end's body," Pauline writes. "He’ll be a very good No. 2 at the next level and can be used in the slot or in a system that puts him in motion before the snap."

San Jose State senior TE Josh Oliver hauled in eight catches for 158 yards and a score in a 44-41 loss to Hawaii in five overtimes on Saturday.

Oliver is one of the most unheralded tight ends in the country, but he opened eyes with a six catch performance against Oregon in the close loss, and he was even better -- against a worse opponent, admittedly -- in this one. He's caught at least five passes in every game, and he's scored in two straight. Even on a team that has zero chance of going bowling, Oliver (6'5/250) is certain to be on the radars of scouts right now. He and the Spartans will look for their first win next Saturday against Colorado State.

San Jose State senior TE Josh Oliver racked up six receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 35-22 loss at Oregon.

The Spartans kept it much closer than many anticipated, and the senior tight end was a big part of the offensive plan with six of the team's 20 total receptions and the lone foray into the end zone through the air. While Oliver's yardage total has dropped in each game this season, this was his first visit to the end zone and he has managed at least five receptions in each of his three outings. He'll look to continue his high-volume production on Sept. 29 when Hawaii pays a visit to the Bay Area after the team's bye.

Pro Football Focus graded San Jose State senior TE Josh Oliver as the team's top returning player.

The Spartans are one of the lesser teams in the FBS, but Oliver's worth watching for the upcoming season. PFF grades him as the No. 28 returning tight end in the FBS. During the most recent campaign, the 6-foot-5, 253-pounder broke out with a career year in posting a 35-296-1 receiving line, numbers that could potentially be fortified given that Oliver missed a pair of games last year. He also has some intrigue as a potential Day 3 draft selection.

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks San Jose State junior Josh Oliver as the class' No. 5 underclassmen tight end.

Oliver caught five passes for 51 yards in last week's opener against USF. He didn't see much action in the passing game the past few seasons, but that'll change in San Jose State's new pass-happy scheme. Expect a breakout campaign.
