Kansas redshirt senior LB Joe Dineen Jr. has accepted an invitation to play in the 2019 East-West Shrine Game January 19 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Dineen finished his senior season with a 14-tackle effort in Kansas' 24-17 home loss to Texas Friday afternoon. On the season, the redshirt senior linebacker racked up 132 total tackles, three sacks and one interception. A second team All-Big 12 selection in 2017, Dineen should once again be an all-conference selection. Kansas redshirt senior LB Joe Dineen Jr. didn't allow a catch on three targets in Saturday's 31-7 win at Central Michigan.

Dineen also recorded eight defensive stops and nine solo tackles per Pro Football Focus. He was a big part of the defense that held Central Michigan to a measly seven points. This was a huge win for Kansas as they snapped the longest road losing streak in FBS history at 46. Kansas will look to continue their success against Rutgers.

Kansas redshirt senior LB Joe Dineen Jr. recorded the most run stops among returning FBS linebackers with 53.

Dineen recorded a whopping 133 tackles, 22 for a loss, and 2.5 sacks in 2017. He was named the Big 12 player of the Week in Kansas' only win last season over Southeast Missouri State where he recorded 15 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Dineen will continue to be one of the Jayhawks few defensive playmakers in 2018.

Kansas redshirt junior LB Joe Dineen Jr. was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.

Dineen logged 2.5 TFL and a game-high 15 tackles in Saturday’s victory over Southeast Missouri State. Dineen becomes the first Kansas defensive player to win the honor since November 2016, when DE Dorance Armstrong Jr. won for his performance in Kansas’ 24-21 overtime upset victory over Texas.
