Vanderbilt junior TE Jared Pinkney has announced that he will return to school for his senior season.
Pinkney (6'4/255) said following Vanderbilt's bowl game last month that he had yet to make a decision regarding the NFL, despite there being reports that he was likely to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. With the junior tight end back in the fold the Commodores return another talented offensive weapon. Vanderbilt has a major question to answer at quarterback with Kyle Schurmur out of eligibility, but the return of Pinkney gives the next signal-caller a reliable red zone target to work with. Vanderbilt Hustler Sports reports that Vanderbilt junior TE Jared Pinkney has not made a decision regarding the NFL.

Pinkney (6'4/255) was reported to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, but an announcement never came out on his end. After Thursday's bowl loss, the tight end said that his decision has not been made, but a decision is coming soon. Pinkney had a rare poor game yesterday, but it's been an overall good 2018 campaign. If Pinkney declares, the NFL could view his red-zone traits as deserving of a late Day 2 selection.

Jon Lenyard of The Draft Network reports that Vanderbilt TE Jared Pinkney will enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Pinkney has had an excellent 2018 campaign, picking up 41 receptions for 658 yards and scoring six touchdowns for the Commodores. He's seen his draft stock rise with analysts lately, and a recent report by Mel Kiper Jr. suggested he could be the first tight end to come off the board. At 6-foot-4, 255-pounds, Pinkney will assuredly be scouted heavy, and anyone looking for a red-zone threat could snap him up before the end of Day 2.

Vanderbilt junior TE Jared Pinkney hauled in five passes for 92 yards and two scores in a 45-31 win over Arkansas.

Pinkney dominated in this one as he led the team in receptions and yards. His touchdowns were from one and 40 yards out as he caught the only two receiving touchdowns on the day. He is now up to a 30-485-5 stat line this season. Pinkney's draft stock has been trending upwards and ESPN's Mel Kiper even went on record saying he's a darkhorse to be the first tight end off the board in this upcoming draft. It's certainly a possibility if he can continue putting up games like this. He will look to continue his success against Missouri in two weeks.

ESPN's Mel Kiper believes Vanderbilt redshirt junior TE Jared Pinkney is a darkhorse to be the first tight end off the board in the spring.

"No tight end has emerged as the clear-cut No. 1 guy for 2019. Why can't it be Pinkney?" he wrote. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound fourth-year junior is averaging 15.7 yards per reception on his 25 catches with three touchdowns this year. "He's not afraid to block, either," Kiper wrote. "Pinkney isn't likely to be a first-round pick unless he overperforms in testing at the combine, but I like him as a Day 2 pick who could play early in the NFL."

Vanderbilt junior TE Jared Pinkney left Saturday's game at Georgia in the first half due to an undisclosed injury.

Pinkney has yet to return to action since suffering the injury early in the second quarter, and without him the Commodores lack their best red zone target in the passing game. Senior Sam Dobbs is next in line to get the reps at tight end if Pinkney is unable to return to the game.

It's back-to-back strong games for the tight end, who had 98 yards receiving against Nevada the previous Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound junior could be having a breakout year for the Commodores. Vanderbilt sophomore TE Jared Pinkney caught six passes for 119 yards in a 45-17 loss to Missouri on Saturday.

Pinkney (6'4/250) has not been a part of the Commodore offense since the first month of the season, and had caught just one pass in each of the last three days. The Commodores clearly saw something in the Tigers defense to exploit, and Pinkney had easily his best game of his season. We'll see if the Commodores keep the sophomore tight end involved next week against Tennessee.
